deltamal Posted January 13, 2023 Report Posted January 13, 2023 My Mk5 Cortina Crusader estate is now 41 years old, so do not have to pay road tax any more, all the .Gov info says take the reminder and your form V11 to the post office and they will send it off for status change, not so according to the post office counter staff!I think this is a recent change, has anybody had this problem?
Admin Vista Posted January 13, 2023 Admin Report Posted January 13, 2023 You should just be able to go into the PO with the V5C and they will issue a year's VED for free abd send off the V5C to get the tax class changed. When was it 1st registered and when was it manufactured?
deltamal Posted January 13, 2023 Author Report Posted January 13, 2023 It was first registered on 27/5/82 so 41 years in May,
Ray Posted January 13, 2023 Report Posted January 13, 2023 i had to fill out the taxation class change on the v5c, if your car dosnt have a current mot, you need also to fill in a v112, which is you declaring it exempt, if it has an mot you shouldnt need the V112, take both to the post office and they should issue the tax
Johnny Boy Posted January 13, 2023 Report Posted January 13, 2023 As above, just taxed the mk2 Escort sport, changed tax class on v5c, and postoffice guy sent it off to dvla, had to do the mot exempt form too. v5c now back with me as a historic tax class.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted January 14, 2023 Admin Report Posted January 14, 2023 https://www.gov.uk/historic-vehicles/apply-for-vehicle-tax-exemption This should help. Mine's T reg 1979 and I did mine a few years ago.
DT36 Posted January 14, 2023 Report Posted January 14, 2023 It's all down to the Clerk at the Post Office counter. I had to go to 4 seperate Post Offices to find one that understood the process.
In The Pit Posted January 21, 2023 Report Posted January 21, 2023 You will have to wait until the 1st April 2023 for 1982 cars to be exempt currently (January 2023) it's still only up to 1981 that are tax exempt. 1
deltamal Posted January 23, 2023 Author Report Posted January 23, 2023 Thanks for the info, I did wonder if that was the case so I have re-taxed it for six months then apply again....... 1
