Well I judged one of these last week in a RS owners club concourse competition, he travelled all the way from Scotland to Devon, the RS 1800 was apparently the first one off the production line and in mint state with an insurance value of £250,000. I think that’s the most valuable mk two I’ve ever  seen.

This is the British market for British cars and thats where the crazy prices are generated. For us the prices are pretty fairly representative and not over the top compared to the British ones. Even models like Mk1 Twincams that are one of the few models that are identical in specification to the English counterparts they still fetch only 60% of a British cars value even if it was Auctioned in Britain! In cars like Mk2 RS2000 the value in at half what a European one would. So yes they seem over valued there but here its not over the top yet. This car was a Mk2 RS1800 of which only 109 were made so that really is a rarity market that doesn't apply to the average Mk2.
