Decided to treat the Sport to a new gearbox mount as the gearstick rattles annoyingly at higher revs, I previously changed the plastic saddle and fitted new engine mounts but the issue was there so purchased a new gearbox mount from Burton Power and fitted it, there was a slight difference in that it located the gearbox a bit further up to the tunnel but there was still clearance.

So with that done I took it out for a spin hoping that the rattle was resolved, the car ran terribly, stalling when I took my foot off the accelerator and sounding like it was misfiring when running, I have looked at the ignition system and fuelling, both seem normal apart from the colour of the plugs, can anyone interpret the look of them?

Can’t get my head around this issue and running out of patience 😡

change sparkplug they do go bang, had that on my crossflow, the same with ignition leads, without touching them, it still could be a fuelingl  problem, crap blokking things, the small venteuries lose, if you got a double webber carb, the colour looks fine, look at the gap, mabe a bit big

if you got a quick shift, they do rattle, if you got a 4 speed, use the bush and stick of an rs, if they make noise the plastic is gone, but you will have a lot of play in it

Thanks for the responses, the spark plugs are quite new but cheap enough to replace as are the fuel filters, I have one fitted at the tank outlet and another before the carb, I will have a look at the jets and see if there is any verdebrie in them.

With regards to the gearstick rattling issue, it is a quick shift that has been fitted but the previous owner so unless I can source a standard stick cheaply enough, I will have to put up with the irritation for now, if only we could go back in time and fill our garages and sheds with those hard to get spares from the scrap yards!
