Vista Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 Is anyone able to help me out with a pdf download of a Ford workshop manual for an 89 Sierra Sapphire please? Even just images of a few key pages out of one would be very helpful.
Vista Posted April 22 Author Report Posted April 22 The pages that cover identity and age, I.e. the interpretation of the VIN plate.
Miniliteman Posted April 22 Report Posted April 22 Have a manual (pdf) with that in it. But it's 25 Mb, will try and save the relevant pages.
Vista Posted April 23 Author Report Posted April 23 Thanks, it is and it isn't. It confirms some of the stuff I need, but it's a Cosworth manual so only covers Cosworth models. The engine code on the car in question is L6, which I think corresponds to a 1.6 CVH, so I need something that proves that. A manual for a lower spec car ideally Also, the VIN on the car starts *WFOFXX6BBFJL At digit 8, I would expect there to be a G (for Germany) where this car has a 6. I'm having difficulty working out what the 6 should represent.

Sierra Mk2 with a 1.6 CVH engine with CFI 80 bhp manufactured between 10/89 and 02/93 has code L6B . Digit 8 (the G or 6) is always a letter. It's either a B (Britain) or a G (Germany). The B at digit 9 means Halewood (if the 8th is a B ) or Genk (if the 8th is a G ). So if the 8th digit is a 6 then it's either a misprint, a re-made VIN that has gone wrong or a faded G that now looks like a 6. 1

But it's also in the windscreen vin marking

But it's also in the windscreen vin marking If the windscreen marking, VIN plate and the V5C all say it's a 6 then it's a misprint in the factory. If the V5C say it's a G then someone made in an error in making the VIN plate and that was copied onto the windscreen.
