Jangalicka Posted May 9, 2025 Report Posted May 9, 2025 I am after a set of correct type wheel nuts if anyone has a set they want to sell or know where I can purchase them from. They are for the steel wheels on my MK2 Escort. I have a set of the black plastic wheel nut covers I wish to put on them as the wheel nuts on the car at the moment are not correct, they are more like something out of a Mad Max movie as per attached pictures. Cheers
Miniliteman Posted May 9, 2025 Report Posted May 9, 2025 Here's a photo of original Mk2 Escort wheel nuts for steel wheels. On the right is a nut with a black nut-cover and below that is a wheelnut in black but as these were OEM on the RS1800 you probably pay double RS-tax if you can find them.
Jangalicka Posted May 9, 2025 Author Report Posted May 9, 2025 The head of my wheel nuts are too big & long for my plastic caps to fit over them for some reason
Dave Knight Posted May 9, 2025 Report Posted May 9, 2025 (edited) Here are my steel’s. The black covers are rubber, not plastic. I think the nuts are 17mm. Edited May 9, 2025 by Dave Knight
Jangalicka Posted May 9, 2025 Author Report Posted May 9, 2025 Cheers, mine are definitely the plastic type. Looks like I'll have to try & find a set of open ended nuts like yours
Dave Knight Posted May 9, 2025 Report Posted May 9, 2025 Let me know how you get on. These are not far from me and I could take one of mine in. https://www.brianpope.com/
Jangalicka Posted May 9, 2025 Author Report Posted May 9, 2025 I'll have a look, much appreciated. Here's another picture of my nuts ! Mine are 19mm
Miniliteman Posted May 9, 2025 Report Posted May 9, 2025 Looking at the photos again I guess those plastic covers are for the smaller open-ended nuts. Have a box of these here (all used) which you can have 16 of for postage, but I am in the Netherlands so P&P would be 15 Euros. Guess Darran at escort-tec will have these as well.
Jangalicka Posted May 10, 2025 Author Report Posted May 10, 2025 That is very much appreciated, thank you. I'll see if I can source some this end first now that i think i know what i need to save you going through that hassle though. Cheers
Miniliteman Posted May 10, 2025 Report Posted May 10, 2025 This looks like the OEM nut. https://www.retroford.co.uk/product/oe-type-wheel-nut-m12-x-1-5mm-w002/
Jangalicka Posted May 10, 2025 Author Report Posted May 10, 2025 I think you might be right. £2.40 + VAT per nut though !
Dave Knight Posted May 10, 2025 Report Posted May 10, 2025 I can go to the engineering firm and compare if you like.
Jangalicka Posted May 11, 2025 Author Report Posted May 11, 2025 Really appreciate that offer but I couldn't let you go out of your way and do that. Many thanks though, cheers
