My Mk2 2.0L Focus' fuel pump has started making lower pitch noises when powering down the last few days. Im guessing its blocked or on its way out. Any good euro made brand of fuel pumps you can recommend? I can get some as cheap as 40 quid equivalent for a Chinese one but willing to spend a bit more for something that lasts. I stumbled across the Autostar brand they claim ins German but dont actually say if the Brand is German but still made in China? lol Thanks

Hmmmm I noticed that really the sound its coming from the front engine bay not behind me where the tank and fuel pump is. Thats got me curious now. In these modern(ish) Fords, what pump or whatever can you hear powering down when you turn off the engine? Google suggested it much be the throttle body actuator? Or possibly the power steering pump?

Throttle body on a petrol

Ive been practising a contorted key reach around and switch the engine off with the bonnet up just trying to locate the sound, yes you are right part of the sound is the throttle body but the sound that has lowered its pitch since last week does appear to be the Power Steering pump that is hidden under the drivers side front Guard. The car has a fluid leak and I suspect the lowering of the sound it may require fluid. I can see the cap for the reservoir through a tiny slit in the inner guard but there is no way to check or even reach the cap from above! Why do they design modern cars with even the fluid top ups as inaccessible!
