I don't want to break i want to rebuild it!!! tbh ive made an offer of 800 to witch i thought fair but apart from doors bonnet and boot lid all panels are pretty us. i can do all the work myself that's not an issue i just didn't want to be spending over the odds in the first place...and by no means is he daft hes got his noggin screwed on far more than me!!!...hes trying to sell it not repair it for a start!!!

Thanks for your quick response, the seller appears genuine ( farmer ) but he is on the asumption that the " log book" is worth 1k....my response to that was that to re shell a car i am on the understanding that you have to have a percentage of the original car is this correct? and also if some one was to buy it for the log book then this is classed as " ringing" and is illegal if iam not mistaken? many thanks arron

Have been on here a while with my cortina but recently i have been offered a 1600 sport mk2 in beige , eventually got round to going for a view today . well its been stood for a decade in a court yard and is a basket case i could put my hand through the rear floor wells flat ( my palm not my finger ) chassis rails inner wings boot floor wells as to be expected...even the rear quarter pannels under the windows had badly rotten out!!!! basicaly my question is, being a nutter iam still interested in the purchase/monster rebuild but how much would it be worth in the condition its in, as the current owner is asking abit much imho..iam not putting how much as i would like honest as possible answers. oh and the engine cranks but doesn't start !! many thanks for any advice given arron

Thanks for all the positive comments at the moment it is "unwelded" but unfortunatly it requires some attention to the bottom of the "A" posts !!! i have coming some nos "A" posts tho so will look brilliant once again! Plans are To fit my new carb and K&N, Lower it slightly, MK4 Grill ( if any one has one that i can purchase lol ) needs stem seals doing ( pinto puff first thing) so may go 2.1 pinto , Also some deep dish 15" minilites and a stealth stereo so sounds nice but still looks retro!! And a coat of fresh paint as the original has started to wear thin in places and as seen is different shades here and there lol

thats great mate !!! any ideas on were i could lay my hands on some headlight washer jets? also on a mission trying to track down some "original" traffic light air freshners atm for the true "retro" look if i find any will let you know as it turns out they have been out of production for 10yrs and its proving difficult...new versionis rubbish no gold chain etc etc

LOl yes mate no problems just got to fix my "flux capacitor" then its ready again!!! It was on ebay twice and never met the reserve i watched it both times then stored it so soon as my land rover sold i made contact!!! surprising what people will "give a miss" due to not having any road tax aint it! did 2 trips to surrey to sort it but i got it in the end so all good!!!

small bit of an update nothing major!! 2 NOS headlamps sourced and fitted ( matching) Went in for a extreme undersealing!!! fuel tank removed Original boot floor!!!!!! and now! pretty much rest of the car now looks like this! plent round the potentialy rusty spots ( mint atm but better to be safe) oh and my new nob!! thanks foor lookin!

Thanks still needs alot of work doing but its a good base to start with taken me along time to find one in a fair condition and in this colour for a good price

Just joined up so thought i would say hi! My names arron and over the years i have ownd many fords ( mostly newer ones tho ) appart from a 1300 super sport when i was 17 , for the past 20 years since my dad had a mk5 cortina when i was young i have always wanted one!! Just 1 week ago i got my mk5 in carabean blue. Drove nearly 8 hours to fetch it from derby ( dreaded motorway traffic ) picked it up from surrey and headed straight to pod for the classic ford show!!! Its a one owner from new only covering a whoping 78k still have all original hand books and bills of sale etc ...was worried i wasnt going to like it but tbh i fookin love it and hope to have it for many years to come!!! will post some pics up shortly! thanks arron
