    Nice one Marcel
I was there as well, I agree, it is not the same as Santa Pod, but selfishly for me, it is SO much closer, so I'll take the reduction in size for a good day out.

Shame we didn't get to meet up and say hi

thanks baileymex, if you come next year, i and my dog (witch isn't pissed anymore) will say hi, and put the car on the osf stand, i think we could push people more to come to the show, i think a drive from a 100 to 150 wouldn't to fare to drive to a show, i do 250 miles and the tunnel or bootferry, to get there, i think it could get a bit bigger, if people just make a bit of an effort, it would be still a nice show, cheers marcel

  3. hi, i got the connections to remove the litle block, did that, and used an other new mastercilinder, took the inside out and have put that inside an other new one that we used, the body has the right connections for the lines, and the result was, still no brakes, we where thinking, that the new mastercilinders are old stock, that the cups where to old, i was looking for something else, and i found my set to make brake pipes, i thought i will take an escort cilinder, clean that, and put new cups in that, and try that, witch i did, didn't work, i looked the car over, and i finally fixed it, it's got brakes, my mate can take it to the mot, hoping everything is right, i can clean 3 new cilinders and put them together and trow them back on the pile, cheers marcel

  4. hi, we are still working in the estate, the rear brake needed to be replaced, we did that, it's a real pain, it's just a crap system, we change some springs in to bolts and springs, the originale stuff is total crap, we drilled a hole in de gears witch adjust the shoes, now we can adjust them with a screwdriver, everything new on the back, so time to pull the air out of the system, did that, we had crap brakes, the next day we unbolted the mastercilinder, and saw that it has leaked about 1/2 a liter of brake fluid in the booster, the last owner just top it up, and never asked himself where it went, (dumbo), so i had a look in my pile of parts, and i had one, it'has an m10 and m12 conection, put that on, pulled the air out, at the last wheel we lost half of oure pedale presior, si i thought it has broken a cup inside, i did had that at one time, we looked for an other one in my pile, and yes i got an other one, we used that, we had pressior, but not great, i dove a round with the car, stamped a few times on the brakes, pulled the handbrake, and yes after 6 times the pedale went to the floor, we didn't have any brakes left, i have taken the 2 master cilinder apart, and found notthing wrong with them, that's a lot of time and work spent, and we got nowhere, there is a block in the brake lines witch could have a switch in it, that would switch a light up, when there is a differents in the brake back to front, we are going to remove this, i just ordered some conections to do this, and then we will try the mastercilinders again.

we also had a look witch diff is in the axle, it should be 4.1, if that was the case we would use a 3.78, then his car would drive the same with 320rpm less, but it has a 3.9 so it would only be 120rpm, that's to much work for nearly no gain, he's looking for a 3.45 diff, it's the small koln diff nobody likes, i don't no why. it's stronger than an english axle, you just can't buy a slippdiff for it, his rpm's will drop 450 with this one, or he will buy an 3.44 big atlas axle.

i am not a fan of these cortina's, but this one has lowered springs, ajustable spax, nice seats, 2 litre, 5 speed, rare colour(not originale) lots of space, and it just drives realy nice, and my mate loves it, we will make more changes to improve the car, after getting brakes and an mot on it

so you see you have to be nuts and stupid to want to drive these old fords, now we just need a doctor to confirm this.

pictures, the second one, showes some welding on a strip to keep the shoes inplace, someone broke a piece of it, we repaired it, on the fifh picture it's got a block like we want to get out off the car.

    cheers marcel, my mate jan

  5. hi, my laptop made this film, i don't know how, i am no genius

i went to the show, i saw all the shows, except the 2022 show, this year the wife of a friend made a club to attend, i was realy early at the show, i had tickets, but i came through the back door, there was a carboot sale, and an open gate, so i was first there at 06.00 except the ones that camped at the side, i did see the pictures and vidio's from last year, i have to say, it was like i expected, it's not the show we know, it's not so big, there is space enough to make it big, but i don't think there will be more people, it's easy to see the cars and take pictures, that's nice, there where very litle spare parts to buy, it's is great  that you can bring your dog with, last year they sayed it to late that it was allowed, i did have a very nice day, becaurse for me it's a big show, here in holland we don't have that, next year i will go, but will come a bit later, stay for a few hours and driver further to norwich where my sister lives, i can understand that you living in england have more choise to witch show you will attend, and distance will be a factor, for me every thing is far, but it's worth the trouble, see the show, some speedway, and visit my sister, and driver in england, witch is nicer than here in europe, cheers marcel

my mate from the taunus estate (cortina) sent me some more pictures of the work we did on the public road, witch you not allowed to do, but when you are a criminal you don't care that the other cars, are now red aswell.

  7. i know, i have seen that a lot over here aswell, in this piece of my town they made a book of the history of my neighbourhood, and the girl that made the pictures and the book, made a piece of me will i was welding on my transit in the early evening, and stated that it used to be normale, and you could still see it here, a lot of people know me or my cars, so if you are nuts enough you will be a selebrity, don't need a ferrari, just an old ford will do, cheers marcel

  8. hi, i got  side tracked, from the things i still have to do, a mate of mine wanted again an old ford, he saw one, and asked me to go and see it, on the other end of holland, that's 190 miles from us

we went with an mondeo estate with some spare parts in it, we had a look, a chat with eelke (the seller) who is a very nice guy, the car was like he sayed , so he bought it, traded in the mondeo, and we drove it back the 190 miles, we had a lot of fun on the way back, we made it with out any problems, last weekend we fixed a few things witch were needed, like weld a few plates in the wheel wells, a piece in the chassis beam, also two holes in the right wing, and sprayed these, and this was all don on the public road, becaurse my mate hasn't got a garage, i got 4 and i still have to work outside,    a bit stupid i think , but the weather was nice, and we had a lot of fun, like 2 kids with a new toy, and you get distracted by the women and girls passing by, especial with the hot weather we have.       now we just have te renew the backbrakes and kabel, and it could be good to go to an mot, then we got enough time to the other things to fix.

so you see you have to be a bit nuts to want to drive an old ford, it dosn't come for nothing, but it's worth al the effort, to drive an old ford, cheers marcel, and jan the owner of the taunus estate

I run 205/60 13s on my Mk2 with a 3.54 diff and at 3500 RPM its 110 Kph. That's our top speed limit here so with a 220kph speedo both needles point straight up along all our freeways. Very easy to keep steady at a glance.

mine is 205/60/13 with a 5 speed, 3.22 diff, and dos 130kpm at 3000 rpm, our top speed is 100kpm, i drive that, i like to be a criminal, cheers marcel

  11. hi, i did skrewed the regulator in an sports dashboard, it just fits, and the copper collet makes contact like the originale one,  i did have a look at an rs dash wich leon sent a picture of, it won't fit in there, the leg is at an different place, never knew that, you live and learn, i know it's stupid that my oil and dynamo light didn't work with regulator in the dash, they have nothing to do with it, i thought may be it's simpel, and i struck gold, but to bad no free holydays for me, but i still will go to england, i just will row myself, cheers marcel

  12. hi, an update from the simple mechanic, i used my second one in my van, to bad, nothing works, no temp, petrol, and no oil , dynamo lamp, the other stabiliser is on its way to miniliteman, he knows what to look for, i don't, he knows realy a lot, you could say he's smart, just don't tell him that, cheers marcel

My limited electronics knowledge says a 7805 chip is a 5v device and as chips go its about as common as you can get! But unless the guages resistance wiring has been changed to work with a 5v source these regulators won't work correctly with Escort guages that Leon has determined need a different voltage regulator. At least they ain't the bi-metalic strip version from the dark ages LOL!

i didn't see your message, on evalbay, someone sells just the square thing, with wires, and says it works, what i saw on the one i got, it's the square witch is wired like the guy on evalbay says, i think leon will figure it out, my brain dosn't get it, i will try my second one, and buy some of those squares, and try that, if we get it to work, we got a nice problem fixed for very little money, it's great that miniliteman saw something very small, witch could be a solution, i have to say, he's got an advantage, he wears glasses, cheers marcel

  14. hi, there will go one of these to miniliteman, one free holyday coming up, great !!!!, he wil have a look with a voltmeter i think, we have to wait for his profesionale report,

i got an other one, the second free holyday !!!!, i will stick it in my car, and will see if something blows up or burns down, i am a simple mecanic, change it, and see what happens, remember, i don't lay, unless i typ, or open my mouth, cheers marcel

  15. hi, leon, they are for sale on ebay, one robber lives in australia, (sorry RP) who is asking just 150 ponds english, a german ask 30 ponds, 2 italien guys ask  about 60 ponds,

if you want one i will sent one, i think i will get another free holiday coming soon, pm you adress please, it will be free, the stabiliser is interchangeable from the cortina to an escort dash, it just fits, i think it's the square bit thats the volt regulator, someone is selling that on ebay with 3 wires, for 14 ponds, the square bit is also for sale on ebay,  for 3,90 ponds you get a set of 10, i think you could fix one to an old metal regulator. they also sell then 2 a set fot 3,50 with writting on them, on the originale on it says 7805   520k nec malaysia. that's on the one i saw on ebay, on mine it says L7805c-y    scs  88737  , on the box you get the ford number

on my cars i use the regulator which will not read a full tank of gas when its full, then i always have gas in the car, but it will say emty, and my tempmeter will stay low, if the regulator will say a full gastank, my thempmeter will be a bit under half the scale, and if my car will head up just a bit, the meter will go up rather much, you would think something is wrong, when it's not, with the ones which don't say a full tank, the tempmeter is more stable, if it go's up, it will go slowly, if the engine is getting hot, it will go fast, so it will work normale.

i will buy a few of those square bits, they cost nearly notting, i will pick them up by my sister after 14 may, i will sent a few to you leon, cheers marcel

picture is from the guy from ebay

Are the three bulb looms for the light bulbs the same too? All the escort ones I look at have the tabs broken that bayonet into the back. If Cortina ones are the same it may be worth investigating!

do you need one ?, i can sent one with the door carts, i think the standaard dash has the same, i will have a look, cheers marcel

  17. hi leon, see pictures, it's the voltregulator, and it fits the old style dash from an escort, it looks a better option than the old one, i know there is just a piece of wire inside, i have taken one apart, 30 years ago, (sh.. now people know i am just over 30 years, i started in diapers with cars, i never lay shure!!!, sometimes it go's wrong when typing or opening my mouth), cheers marcel

  18. hi colr6, the speedo is the same, it's got the daycounter, with that it's easyer to see how much you can drive with a tank of gas, in holland we call them taunus, i beleave that some sierra's also got the same speedo, i can recall that i bought a few on a partsday for 5 euro apiese, for the dash, taken the speedo out, and gave back the rest, they are somewhere in my pile, i did find, the taunus dash, see pictures, they also can have the rpm counter, but look if it's for a 6 or 4 banger, it will be written on the plate, and transits mk2 also got the same speedo. if you need one, let me know, i will send one, for just the postage, cheers marcel

    DSCF5340.JPG

    DSCF5341.JPG

  19. it should be free, if they sayed it's a gift, and as far as i know, everything under 45 euro's should be free, they charged me i think 8,50 euro for the tea my sister sent to me, worth 15 ponds ?, that's what coverment will do to the own folk, in every country, if i go to englandi can get up to 600 euro's tax free in to the country, if i come back, it's just 300 euro's, and we still have to beleave we are living in free country's, i didn't beleave in fairy taills when i was young, today it pisses me off, that's why i try to stick it as much to the coverments, and tell taills at the border, witch works great.

if you need some more stuff, you could send it to my sister, and i will get it back, i will go to the classic ford show on the 14 of may, and go back on the 22 of may, i will probably go an other time this year, aug or so, cheers marcel
