hello mate, a pal of mine used woodburner matt black from the range on his bike exhausts (after doing his woodburner lol), about 6 quid a can. Still look ok, like was said above do it in light coats.
-
mines in the same place its been for most of this year, currently undergoing a full rebuild starting at the back and working forward, topsides not too bad so detailing underside then painting enginebay and building my 2.1 pinto with twin 45's four speed tran x straight cut box and 2.8i lsd axle....
-
Thanks mate, i will, ive just ordered a set of superflex bushes so the tca's will have to wait till next month as im overhauling the back end at the mo.
-
nice one mate, thanks
-
Rear shoes are 55mm (2 1/8in.) wide by 180mm (7 1/8in.), thats the size of the friction material.
-
thanks mate, just loloked on rally design and they are a bit cheaper! , plus they are just down the road from me really so ill probs get them from there.
do you know if the bolt and spacers come in the kit?
cheers again jason..

oh yes didnt think of that, it is mainly going to be a road car but with a tuned 2.1 on 45s. without the inner rubber does it make it uncomfortable to drive etc, or just a bit more like you say harsh but useable lol.
-
well done matey, looks and interesting project, lovely looking car, I always fancied a sit up and beg pop to hotrod, but never got round to it.......yet lol.
get a resto thread going plus you'll find loads of useful tips on here!!
-
Just browsing gaybay and came across these, do you think they are any good, and do they not need the inner bush as they have a rose joint on the end??
-
im gonna go and measure them this afternoon and also measure up for my polybushes, thanks for getting back ill plonk ther size on here tonight....
-
Im currently building up my LSD capri rear axle, and wondered if there were any uprated rear shoes available for the 2.8i rear axle, im sure i saw some years ago somewhere but too longs passed and ive forgotten where lol
if anyone can recommend any good ones would appreciate, thanks all Jason...
-
yes give them back to banarrama!!!!
-
Im not too sure really, I know i wasnt impressed with floflex, they were a pain in the rear to fit as they didnt fit properly and needed cutting to fit in my other capri. But unless its a track car you wont want it too stiff as it will be very uncomfortable to drive normally plus it might even start stressing the chassis if its really stiff. Im sure the floflex are alot better than rubber but I dont know if floflex do colours/stiffness, ive only ever seen orange myself.
-
Thanks ill get them ordered this month as ive painted my axle now so fitting up the rear end is the next job!
-
Thanks for the reply pete, im swinging between the rally designs or superflex really.
all the best for the feedback Jason..

As the title says, im wanting to polybush my mk3 capri but unsure of what ones to go for, I do have a set of floflex ones to be honest but they were such a pain when i fitted them to my other capri that i might just bay them for what i can get and go for another more well know make,
Any views from people that have fitted them mucho appreciated!
thanks Jason...

I actually know them down at east kent and i have heard good and bad things about them, but in all i think they are a good outfit, and yes you are right they dont make the seals but do supply them from different sources (so i believe), i have found them ok to deal with and yes they do have a shop counter that you can go down to and take a sample to match. Like all things car related if you dont fit genuine you always end up with a bit of grief with pattern parts, and unfortunately genuine trim (and parts) are no longer available for our beloved cars so we have to take a chance and buy pattern, if you speak to lee at EKT he's very human and has had a capri or two in his time so im sure he will sort out any issues that you have as i found him very approachable and the bits they sell are ok if you take a sample to match up.
Hope this helps and im not saying they are totally right in they way they have dealt with people but give them a chance and they do come up trumps.

glad to hear they are ok, just hope the damage to the 100e is repairable!, I just got back from the show myself and got totally drenched there, but there was a good turnout of osf cars, just wish the weaqther had been better!

Was down the new forest this weekend for an easter break with the misses and saw a nice Mk1 escort with bubble arches in Beaulieu, just wondered if it was anyones on here, as i was about 6 cars behind in my girlfriends vw camper on the hill where the cows where holding up the traffic lol,

-
went on first date last night with a girl (shes mad on beetles and campers) so i took the capri out, we were down the front having a bag of chips after going for a drink and sat chatting for half hour with engine running and heater on as full as poss lol, the old girl started to want to cut out and i had to rev to keep it going, then i drove off and it was missing and farting up the hill and wouldnt pull away i was just laughing mind you so was she lol, the old girl got all choked up and was playing up till i dropped said girl at hers but on way home i gave it a good bootfull and was fine after that!
moral of story... your cars do get jealous! dont forget that people lol
Hope they dont all end up like this after Filming F & F
