Good evening everyone. Thank you for allowing me to join your forum. I own a 1973 Mark 1 Escort 1300XL M Plate. It has done 105,000 miles and I am very keen to keep it running as long as possible. Every time I take it out I am always stopped by someone who wants to admire the car and reminisce. I have owned the car for more than 40 years although I have never tried to fully restore it. Mechanically it is excellent but the bodywork is a problem. I have a good garage who can do running repairs with rust but they have recently identified a serious problem with holes in the floor. They say they can patch them (as heas been done before) but I gather it is possible to buy new floor panels and I am keen to explore that to avoid this becoming an annual issue.
The person I deal with at the garage was optimistic he coould source floor panels but when I asked him abvout it last week he admitted he had drawn a blank and recommended I join a forum like this to make inquires. I gather the floor comes in for separate pieces which when fitted togerther form the rectangular floor plan.
It is nice to be able to speak to fellow Mark 1 Escort enthusiasts and if anyone kwows where these floor panels are still being made I would be very grateful. Thank you in advance for your help.
Kind regards
Watford Mark
