Having owned nearly every old Ford over the years, including a Mk1 Escort Estate, I'd never had a Mexico. Most recently I have had Triumph Stags and Dolomite Sprints. One Sprint currently for sale and one awaiting resto.
Purely by chance, I was made aware of a Mex and couldn't resist, so I'm now the proud owner of this little beauty.
Now it's no oil painting and needs lots of TLC, but it passed it's MOT yesterday and is now (free) taxed for 12 months. Structurally it is pretty sound. Chassis legs look original and rust free.
The plan is to drive it thru the summer, de-rally it and return it to a more original spec. Then over the winter, strip it and restore it. Watch this space.
