.... guys, I know ive asked about this before but I want to clear a few things up.

Im converting some Billie struts to coilovers, Rallydesign have asked me about tube length, spring length and rate etc.

I just want it sitting over the tyres whilst trying to balance it with a firm but not stupidly solid ride.

Its a 100e with a pinto.

Can anyone advise and i'll just take the most popular response!

Ta guys.......

The length of the tube depends on how much adjustment you are looking for. If you have a softer but longer spring, you will have a lot of travel, whereas if you have a harder spring the travel will be shorter.

10" 175 spring, 8" tube works on an escort if I remember correctly. Not stupidly hard but firm, with a bit of adjustment

But don't take my word for it Dazza, there will be more suggestions I'm sure ;)

Someone must have an idea ;)

I have an idea, how about making a film about robotic vegatables that take over the world by burrowing into those tight aresholes that those in goverment have

with regards to coilover,go with what escorts have as a guide, the lower you go the less travel you have and the harder the spring needs to be to stop bottoming out.

its going to be trial and error really to find what suits you.

best to go with softest you can get away with

My threaded tubes are 6" long. The springs are 2.25 x 8" long and are the £14 odd quid jobbies at 275lb.

I have yet to fit them but a friend already has and they look the nuts!

All bought from Rally Design

Has your friend fitted them to a 100E?

How was the adjustment......? Nice and low?

Yes it was nice and low and i'll be doing the very same thing!!!. You need top mounts from Old Ford Services or whatever they are called.

Yes, they will be the kick-in platforms which reduce the track. However, lovely though they are, theyre a little on the trumpy side.

So, its down to my mate at P-Dessy to get on the case with a bit of fabrication....... cost, Maccie D's Brekky and 6 Fosters for a fiver
