CHEVY Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Does anyone know if there is an inlet manifold on the market that you can bolt quad bike carbs onto a Zetec?? Also what carbs would you sugest using? Because if there is not one available off the shelf i know a cnc machinist who is up for playing about and seeing what he can do.
MightySprocket Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 bogg brother specialise in bike car conversions and the daddie http://www.boggbros.co.uk/
CHEVY Posted April 25, 2009 Author Report Posted April 25, 2009 Thanks mightysprocket, are these carbs normal carbs as i don't want to get involved in throttle bodies i just want simple carburation that does not involve messing around with ecu's etc?
MightySprocket Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 normal carbs mate, mine are off a CBR900rr Fireblade, equivalent to 45s. Simple bolt on, fuel in, off you go
CHEVY Posted April 25, 2009 Author Report Posted April 25, 2009 i was looking at a set of four firblade carbs on e-bay,so i take it that they can be seperated into 4 single carbs and you would have to get modified linkeges??
MightySprocket Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 im led to believe its best not to split them, or if you do the linkages have to be spot on... although i saw a quick RS2000 road rally car this weekend that had only 2 R1 carbs, 1 feeding 2 cyliners if you like and it goes like snot off a stick, they are very versatile, its all in the jetting and drill bits sort that
james1700 Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 the inlet manifold off a focus st170 has a short inlet with rubbers joining to the plenum. the spacing of this short inlet is the same as gsxr carbs you just need to block the injector holes with some old injectors. james
CHEVY Posted April 25, 2009 Author Report Posted April 25, 2009 Thank James,do you know if the ST170 inlets fit both silver top and black top Zetecs?? and how much they sell for?
zetecmk2 Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 st170 manifolds are pricey!! get yourself an escort manifold and cut it!! and some 52mm hoze, 8 jubilee clips, bit of porting and bobs your mothers brother!!! this also gives you the option of going injection at a later date as the injectors are in a sandwich plate that you can add later. see last pic!! cheap as 20 woodbines!
vibrating_Cake Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 go twin 45's manifolds are cheap enough... so are the carbies and jetting is fuuuuuuck loads easier!

mk1mexico Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 Thanks mightysprocket, are these carbs normal carbs as i don't want to get involved in throttle bodies i just want simple carburation that does not involve messing around with ecu's etc? How are you getting a spark then if you dont want to be 'messing' with ECU's??
CHEVY Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 We are using the standard ecu, that is why i want old style carbs rather than throtte bodies to start off with. Is this manifold an st170 one modified or is it a custom jobbie? and do you think this would work with the older style bike carbs? http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgur ... tart%3D100 its the plastic one near the bottom of the page £149.99
james1700 Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 thats the jobbie regards the jetting bogg bros will do them for you or you can try it yourself just try a local hardware store for microdrills. i had to drill my main jets out to 1.75mm and had the needle set to its richest setting james
CHEVY Posted April 26, 2009 Author Report Posted April 26, 2009 Thanks james,do bogg bros sell the carbs if so what sort of money?
d8vyr Posted April 26, 2009 Report Posted April 26, 2009 i got a manifold complete with zzr1100 carbs jetted to suit my 2ltr from bogg bros. and they cost me £416 delivered. i thought it was easier to let them jet them. BB also say that there carbs will start of the key.. cheers davy
radar tech Posted April 27, 2009 Report Posted April 27, 2009 1.75 micro drill bit it is then thanks guys
