Headlamps stolen?! And info on trackers..

Well its not OSF, but could well be, a few people in my area have had their headlamps stolen. Unbelievable but im led to believe its not as uncommon as i thought.

 

I was driving about today and noticed a couple of cars without headlights - stolen to order i guess. And these werent HID lights either! Its inspired to look a little closer at car security.

 

As for trackers, there seems to be quite a few available on evilbay and i would seriously consider fitting one of these. For £100 you get a tiny little unit that can be hard wired into your loom and with the addition of a pay and go sim card can be set to (a) text you its position at intervals of every 20seconds or up to 1 week ( text you when the car exceeds a speed value (i.e exceeds 1mph, send a text) and © moves out of a certain parameter. (d) report its position at any time you request it.

 

Id personally get it to text me when the cars speed exceeds 5mph, then id get my buddy to be requesting its position (and fire them into google earth on my laptop) whilst i fired up the quattro.

I think that would be super and i might fix one in some obscure place not only hardwired in, but also connected to a small flat radio controlled car battery for when they inevitably disconnect the main one. As for gps signal, i guess you will be royally fooked if they put it into a shipping container, but hopefully you will be well onto it by then.... and if its informing you of its position every 20secs then your only going to be 20 secs away, which at 60mph will be 536 meters away. and whilst they load it in, unshackle it etc, you would have recieved your next update giving you the exact location!

 

It would be one hell of a wake up call put it that way.
