I think it might be nice if whoevers birthday it is , that when they log on it automatically flashes up HAPPY BIRTHDAY.

That way no-one gets missed ..

Even down at our doctors it does that if you have an appt on your birthday .

I seem to remember you did get a happy birthday mate ..................... and someone said you wouldn't read it cos you were away !!!!

I quite liked being wished happy birthday myself it did make me feel welcomed ................... but i'm a sad lonely git who spends far too much time on here anyway.

There are people who's birthday it is who I haven't included. Some are non posters and some are members who haven't posted for a while. Thing I'm trying to say is whare do we make the cut off? Will people who are not included be offended?

i let someone else start the posts and don't really look for them. if there's one in "view latest posts" and it's someone i know or have read/interacted with in pc life  and feel like i know a bit of thier personallity, then i like to wish a happy birthday :D

but not for people i don't know or share topics with.......if that makes sence?

I see what you mean Glen, it makes perfect sense ;) I would act in exactly the same way if I were not part of the staff here.

But... Have a look at the birthdays down the bottom of the page, now there's 3 I've included but the rest I haven't.

I don't really know any of the 3 who I have included. I just know that they are regulars on here and have been an intergral part of the site (as most of you are ;))

But do you think the others who I missed will feel left out? Or even insulted?

Posted

I dont think they would feel insulted to be honest, if they dont post often if at all, they may not even come on the forum on their birthday.am i making sense  i dont think i am so i shall be quiet

I've seen people not post for ages, then start logging on when their birthday is very near, or actually ON their birthday

I see what you're saying Sue, but at what point do I/we decide "no happy birthday for you mate  "?

Posted

I think if you dont recognise them then dont wish them happy birthday  I know thats a bit mean but if they cant make the effort to join in then why should we make the effort to wish someone who never post happy birthday.

mine was started by dave, someone i know and see regularly, seems the natural way to do it. so phil, stop worrying if people will be offended, thier mates should start the "happy birthday" thread..........i don't send cards to people i don't know.

That's alright for you lot because you're not expected to 'talk' to people you don't 'know'

As you know us Admin and Mods don't just do all the moving posts and stuff, we offer a kind of human interface to the forum so we chat to newbies, help out with general stuff and all that stuff and stuff
