Windows Vista, cant view saved pictures HELP!!!

I got a new PC for Xmas and it is running Vista.

When i try to save an image from the interweb, and hit right click, save as etc, it saves but i cant view it.

 

If i go to the file location, it just shows the thumbnail as a 'line' and is a very compressed version of the image. And when i double click it, i get the same thing.

 

I uploaded one of these compressed images onto photobucket and the image comes out absolutley fine when its uploaded?

 

Any ideas people???

what program do you use to open the pictures on your computer?

Try right clicking on the image, choose "open with" on the sub menu, then choose the windows image viewer. It may help. Good luck with it.
