Toolbox Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 Hi all, Having a few problems with over heating, after replacing basically everything ive narrowed it down to the timing being out. Anyone around the essex area could set it up for me?? I also have a pair of dcoe 40s to fit which will need minor tuning, again id appreciate some help with this? Anyone know any reputational garages??? thanks

banarama Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 problems with overheating/wouldnt of thought that had any thing to do with tuning. have you checked the obvious i.e air lock in water system pressure testing ,head gasket etc

Toolbox Posted March 21, 2010 Author Report Posted March 21, 2010 I just changed the oil yesterday to 15/40 I havnt checked the head gasket yet, a mate of mine has a pressure tester i think ill use later in the week. Does anyone know what sort of reading i should be looking at??? Ive washed out the entire system and ran the car for about 15minutes to get the air bubbles out. Would that be good enough?? My rad also has 99% of the fins on it and as far as i can tell is a original pinto rad. The car doesnt smoke or anything.
Toolbox Posted March 21, 2010 Author Report Posted March 21, 2010 Ok ive done a compression test. It reads: From cambelt: 8.5 6.5 6.5 7.75 BAR Am i right in saying it may well be head gasket??
