rakas17 Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 i posted this in the mk1/2 section but got no replies, anyone shed some light?? i went to burton power yesterday to get some coilover convertion bits and springs. i asked the guy what springs i should use and i'm pretty sure he said that for road use on a mk1 mex i should go for 180 or 190, when i got home and looked in the bag i realised he sold me 170s. are these gonna be a bit soft? i wanna lower it a couple of inches, i bought 2 inch blocks for the back. i'm sure they're fine but i wouldnt know and dont wanna fit them if they're gonna be wrong. cheers fellas Joe
dawesy1700 Posted May 9, 2010 Report Posted May 9, 2010 what engines in it? i have a mk2 with 1600 xflow and for the last 4 years i've had 140lb springs on the front and they're not to soft, they were a nice balance between decent handling and a comfy ride, but im doin a conversion to coilovers and ive been advised 180lb and 10inch long springs, so i doubt 10lbs will make a difference, id like some pics when you get them done if you dont mind?
rakas17 Posted May 9, 2010 Author Report Posted May 9, 2010 it's a 1700 xflow. the springs a 10.5" long. i suppose being longer might make them even softer again. I'll take some pics when i do it.
