Thought id post this as a warning to everyone, i know its common sence but we all forget things. Anyway he was working on his car and he striped out all the interior of seats carpet etc and came across an inspection plate under the seats, now he had a problem with the fuel gauge on the dash so he took of this inspection plate to find access to the sender unit. It was a very hot sunny day and of course he took the plate off and removed the sender unit leaving a big hole in the petrol tank, he cleaned the unit up and finding nothing wrong with it decided the fault must be with the wireing so...... yup he starting earthing out the wires to see if any were live and .....BANG. The fumes from the tank exploded and he got badly burnt to his face and arms.

I should point out that it was not an OSF (thank god) but a newer vauxhall but it could happen to anyone if your not carefull

ALWAYS disconect the battery and dont muck about when you have the tank exposed and always work in a ventilated area

he will recover but he has had to take a week of work so far and maybe more. Just goes to show how easy things can go tits up lol. Didnt help being a really hot day as the petrol must have vapourized more easily and of course he was traped in the car whilst he was slowly cooking ouch

I think this, along with baz105e dropping his Anglia on his head, shows that we should all be aware of health and safety when at home, the risks do not go away just becuase we are not at work...
