How do you tell?

I have bought a pinto engine which was fitted in a transit which was used for racing.

The previous owner claims it is a 2.2 race engine.

I have removed the cam cover andit looks pretty good with new valves, springs etc and was told by my father it was a high lift cam.

Is there any way of telling it is a 2.2?

I don't mind stripping it down as I will be replacing all the gaskets and seals for my own peace of mind.
