Dear Joe

I have purchased a mk1 escort in the last couple of months and it is under going a full resto,

it was fitted with a 2.3 pinto and type 9, 5 speed gear box.

the guy I purchased it from said that the engine had previously had work done to it by the person he purchased the engine from, the problem is I have no specifics on the engine what so ever , well apart from that it is a 2.3 Pinto unleaded running twin 45`s.

 

As I have said the car is under going a full resto and I thought that whilst the engine is out this would be a good time to get it looked at and/or upgraded, this would all depend on how much money would be involved because the car was pretty rotten when I purchased it and has since been stripped , dipped and new panels welded , wiring loom will also need to be replaced as there has been lots of added extras over the years.

 

I was hoping that you could give me a rough estimate on how much it would cost for you guys to have the engine and give it a bit of a going over ? and make it road quick.obviously I know you will not be able to tell me with out knowing specifics but I was looking for a rough guide.

 

I want my escort to be road quick but to be honest Im not sure what would be needed .

 

the engine is/was running before it was taken out of the car and is now sitting in a friends garage.

 

I am away out of the country until mid April but would really like to hear you opinion / prices on what you could do !

 

the car will need to be ready for end of April so if I can afford what you suggest then we could work out getting the engine to you ASAP
