need advice on a noisy rear axle

Thinking of buying a capri V8 5.0 which has a 8.8" ford rear axle with lsd but on the test drive its making a loud groaning noise with the road speed. I will need to drive it 100 miles to get it home but am concerned that it may not make it. The guy selling it says he has only just finished building the car 100 miles ago and thinks the noise will smooth out after a while. personally i think he`s talking b******s. What do you guys think?

Tell him to drive it to yours,and you will give him the money when he gets there if there are no probs .lol.

noisy axles dont go quiet on their own! they get noisier. if he wants to sell it then get him to knock off the rebuild price. if its bearing noise its fixeable, if the cwp are worn then its new diff time.

i no it was built 100 miles ago what work has been done to get it to fit. who narrowed it ?? im building a capri drag slag with a 8.8 in it parts are not that hard to get
