4parajon Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 We all know what the LSD versions are going for, what are the bog standard 2.8's worth second hand, Ive seen one for sale for £100 Thanks
caprifan Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 if your buying then just get a 2.0l axle....the same as a 2.8 but cheaper (apart from ratio)....depends if your only after the 2.8 diff ratio ..if your selling then the 2.8 axle is totally different..honest guv
4parajon Posted February 1, 2007 Author Report Posted February 1, 2007 No I'm buying, I assumed that the 100bhp 2 litre axle would'nt be the same as the 160bhp axle. I just thought that the axle would be stronger than my 2litre one, Ive been told that the 2litre one is the weakest of the range?????
caprifan Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 ..pretty sure the casing is identical.....
Retromotorsport Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 there the same ... the shafts differ slightly i think .. but that may kust be on the LSD ones .. and you aint gone a break an Atlas with a NA pinto and skinny wheels. the 1.6 is the best ratio for acelleration and the 2.0 is an allrounder, the rest all have 3.09's .... fine for cruising the motways and top speed runs with 500bhp and 7000rpm =170mph ...
RF Ben2 Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 keep the 2-litre there's no difference at all apart from final drive and bigger drums! Ben
4parajon Posted February 1, 2007 Author Report Posted February 1, 2007 Thanks for the advice fellas. When Ive saved my pennies I'll be getting a Fostek built Atlas with an LSD. I just thought it would be a good idea to have the 2.8 one lying around for when/if my 2litre one goes BANG, but I wont bother if there the same.
PIG Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 oh yes fostek atlases are the daddies my friend
X-pack-Glyn Posted February 1, 2007 Report Posted February 1, 2007 No I'm buying, I assumed that the 100bhp 2 litre axle would'nt be the same as the 160bhp axle.I just thought that the axle would be stronger than my 2litre one, Ive been told that the 2litre one is the weakest of the range????? mate, just the ratios different, they are all the same strength, try to avoid the front loader type fitted to some early mk3 models and most mk2s. the axle you allready got should be fine.
