alltheoldohyeah Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 A few shots from layhams farm race track (Croydon Motorsport) from back in the early 80's when my uncle used to take me. Sadly the track closed in 2007. The black MK2 escort was driven by John Russell and was running a an all alloy 2.0L BDG.

Stiggy Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 No Barry Wheelnut ??? Used to spend a lot of Saturday nights in his pub at the top of Dirt Box Hill eating pies and playing pool. Great days at Layhams.
Stiggy Posted October 23, 2012 Report Posted October 23, 2012 The manor? Yep. Was always quiet when his Disco was full downstairs, used to put Motorsport vids on as well.
alltheoldohyeah Posted October 23, 2012 Author Report Posted October 23, 2012 Sadly that's gone too. Had a few good nights in there. Used to race remote control stock cars there too before I was old enough to drive. Used to know the son of the owner of layhams farm and raced my mates round there in our xr2/xr3is but sadly never had the chance to race there properly.

My Dad and Uncle used to race against Barry Willmot and John Russell in Super Saloons. They were also friends with Mick and Stuart of the 'police' banger crew, of which the first picture of this thread may well be of. A mate used to know the farmers Son too, was it Simon??? I think he drove a red Lancia Intergrale? I lived in Coney Hall at the time. May have seen you guys around.
