IS A MK1 ESCORT STEERING RACK THE SAME AS A MK2 ONE ?

As above will a MK2 steering rack fit my 1972 mk1 escort or are there some differences?

 

Only asking as rally design do mk2 ones very reasonable

the rack is the rack arms and ends aint, if u use capri struts with a mk2 rack you should be fine as thats what i did

the rack will bolt on the same an the column will fit the same but mk1 track rods are imperial an mk2 are metric also mk1 legs have a differant ball joint taper there more shallow compared to mk2 an capri if your using capri/rs steer arms with the mk2 rack an track rods you will be fine failing that just change the drum sticks over
