MK1 RS2 Bonnet

I need some advice on the following....

 

My Bonnet is constantly popping up and I am worried that it will pop up one day and smash the windscreen and cause a accident, I have tried everything to sort it out but nothing seems to work, I had the same problem on my last mk1 which is why I fitted pins.

 

What is the best solution??? the problem I have is that the car is totally original, I am thinking of bonnet pins but I know they wont look right.

if not i got a bonnet with pins fitted u can have cheap so u dont have to drill standard one

both ok, it just pop ups on its own, really annoying

maybe try bending the lock spring so its almost half way across the hole

The chances are that it's not latching properly. Make sure the spring is attached tightly to the front panel, and that the cable isn't too tight. Secondly, make sure that the bonnet pin and the spring latch are lined up correctly, if not this may be the problem. Also try actually loosening the bonnet pin and making it a tiny bit linger. Sometimes if they're too tight then the pin doesn't go all the way into the spring and causes it to pop up.

And remember, Vaseline is your friend Don't use grease or oil as it will get everywhere.

if its to "ling" tho it will stand up proud of the wings and might need the slam panel adjusting if u catch my drift

The problem is, I might get it to shut correctly now but I don't trust them as seen to many mk1's popping up on the motorway etc.

 

Does anyone know a good set of pins or something different?

If the safety catch is in good condition and working properly the bonnet won't pop up. Honest
