Ive been using this stuff called rx 90 (red oxide primer) on my mk1 to protect it while im still working on it, generally its ok to use but the cost is really racking up so i had a look on ebay to buy some primer in bulk (since i get through so much of the bloody stuff)

Well anyway ive come acrost this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-x-WHITE-PRIMER-QUALITY-AEROSOL-SPRAY-PAINT-CANS-500ml-/260331070121?pt=UK_Car_Accessories_Car_Care_Cleaning&hash=item3c9cf0e2a9

has anybody used this primer before, it works out waaaaay cheaper than the £6.50 a can im paying at the moment.

is it cheap for a reason or is it ok to use, i'd hate to spray a load of it onto the car to find out its cheap crap that has to be scrapped back off

Its ok just to stop the bare metal going rusty but when you come to spray the car the lot should come of and prime it properley othere wise you will have problems either a reaction or it will rust from underneath the primer outwards.you need to use 2 pack primer  celly primer and celly thinners has too much water in it.does that help m8.

Cheers Paul, that does help.

basicallyy ill just buy cheap primer to protect it short term but take it all off again prior to having the car resprayed

just brush paint kurust onto the bare metal,  nothing will come through it and when ur ready to paint just give it a quick rub down and a 2k primer. worked really well for me plus its added rust protection for the future
