why are newspapers and news reports allowed to bend the truth so much?

my brother has been in some trouble lately and unfortunately subject to media attention.

the tripe theyve come out with though is ridiculous they have distorted the truth really badly and printed pictures that have been manipulated in photoshop ... theyve totally demonised a lad that has made a silly mistake

isnt this illegal.

there must be someone he can complain to about that? someone like trading standards?

i tried the press complaints commission but heard nothing,

my brother is locked up for 6 months now for basically fooking around with his mates. wev all done it just they got made an example of them because some rich tossers kept pushing matters

an illegal immigrant killed someone locally a few years back and got off scot free/

a few years back my dad was accused of something and the case went to crown court

before he had even been qestioned by the police some one had leaked it out to the press who were banging on his door calling through the letter box before the police had even arrived

his pic and the story were in the news of the world, they called him a round chubby sex offender

he use to run his own swim club so imagine how this went down with the parents

the case lasted 2 years ,jury took 5 mins to find him not guilty

did the press report this? no

my dad now lives in oz partly because of the redical he had to suffer

were`s the justice in that

thats the thing im talking about, naming and shaming without proof.

It's the same as someone who is accused of rape, the 'offender' will most likely have his name in the press for several months beofre the case comes to court. If he is then found not guilty, then his name has been tarnished and his life ruined.

I beleive that anyone's identity should be kept private until he is found guilty. How would you feel if it was you that had been falsley accused of being a rapist or a paedophile?

An ex footballer living downhere was accused by 2 girls of indecent assault, it went to trial, went to retrial & eventually he was found not guilty!

A local TV gardener was accused of molesting a boy that had been a family friend of his for years, he was found guilty & tried to take his own life in prison.

Someone I went to school with & used to go clubbing with was also accused of rape. He was a bit of a player but one girl he slept with screamed rape! After his name was printed in the paper he was taken to court & found not guilty!

You have to be careful with girls these days, they're too keen to scream it to try & ruin reputations or get financial gain.

Of all the rape cases that go to trial only a handful end up in a prosecution

i know a lot of newspapers that wont get delivered from now on anyway...

in my case it didnt just affect the person directly its affected the family and friends

All because of the gutter press
