  1. There are many tell tale signs for 49 shell, I can think of a few off the top of my head. The chassis number should start BFAT (make sure log book and car match) there should also be another plate on the right of the slam panel, this will be an avo plate and will contain the details of the original spec of the car. As for the shell itself look for strengthening plates on the inner wings, strut tops double plated, underneath the Boot should have studs showing for the fitment a stone guard (if it has the stone guard even better but it's rare), anti trap bars (radius arms) fitted from the axle facing forward fitting onto the chassis. That's all I can thinks of at this time in the morning! Hope this helps
  2. Hi everyone don't think I'll have the car done that quick but will defianatly have to go sometime. Whereabouts Down the a12. I'm from Upminster but just moved to kent recently, Im always in Essex and London though so will be going to ace cafe, Chelsea bridge. Used to go to the Dick Turpin on the a127 wednesdays a few years ago and it was always packed out. That all had to stop so don't know where everyone goes now?
  3. Been looking at different forums and thought of see what this ones like. Ive been rebuilding my mk1 escort Mexico on and off for the last 3 years, recently rebuilt all the runnning gear and put it on, dropped the engine and box in so she's rolling, just got to make up some more brake pipes, clutch pipe and a few little bits and bobs the. Can crack on with the interior and exterior, not long left now! Hoping to take it to Belgium in June with a load of mates to a hot rod show. Of anyone's got a 6point bolt in cage for sale or knows where I can get a full new loom please let me know
