  1. I'll measure the glass and send it to you
  2. I've got a 2door and a 4door Escort in the garage. Both seem to have the same quarter windows. Where is the difference?
  3. I need it for a 4 door Mk2. How do I know, if mine is for a 4 or 2 door? Any measurments different?
  4. sorry, I didn't know. could anyone move it? Thanks!
  5. Hi, I'm searching for a turning window (the little triangle window) for the left front door of an Escort MK2. I'm from Germany, if that's a problem because of the shipping. Greets! Stefan
  6. Hi, I've got a turning window (the little triangle window) for the right front door of an Escort MK2. I would like to exchange it for a left turning window, because I'm from Germany and could use the left one a lot more than the right one If you make a good offer, I will sell it for money =) Greets! Stefan
  7. Ok, I will have another look at that. The worn pistons were my first impression after stripping the 1300 GT, but i haven't measured them. Maybe I can do that after Christmas. I don't own proper measuring instruments for that kind of usage. But my university does =)
  8. Hi, Another question occured: How much reving will the original oil pump endure?
  9. Hi, using the 1300 pistons won't be the best thing, because I think they are worn. I had 6-8 Bar (17-23psi I think) with a good compression tester in my 1300LC engine and I don't want to use the pistons of my HC Sport because of uncontrolled explosions of the gas (do you call it knocking?) Are the holes for the valves smaller in the 1300 pistons than in the 1600? A good cam would be very nice, but in Germany there are relatively strickt emission laws. I have to have less than 3% CO in idle. Will I get this with the kc234? Is there a little bit more tame cam on the market? Btw: I have to go to an Engineer to get the engine registered in the car (is the Shell durable enough, are the emissions lower with the new engine and such bullsh**). If it sounds like a baby on crack I will have a little problem sorry for giving the informations bit by bit, but sometimes you don't think about everything at the same time =) Tanks!
  10. Thank you, that was exactly the thing I wanted to hear! =) Shall I use new bolts? I heared, that the Kent doesn't use expansion bolts and you can use them several times. How do I lighten the fly wheel? by drilling it where the clutch is pressed against or making holes in the outer part? sry, I can't say it better. Here are two pictures of the car and the engine (sorry für bad quality, Samsung cell phone with "dust camera"...) The 1600 Kent with 9" brakes and some other stuff in the trunk of a Micra. It looks like a sport boat because of another Kent in the trunk Normally its not that bad That was my first long trip, almost 600 miles (1000km) in 3 days. Good night!
  11. Sers, I'm from Germany and want to rebuild an 1600 xflow which I've bought recently. Plan for the winter/spring: -Get the old 1300 with 4 speed box out of the car -AVO adjustable in the front and cutting the Springs -vented disks and big drums -PU bushes -T9 Gearbox The plan for the Engine: -getting the head machined (unleaded and ported, stronger springs) -> a Friend does that -rebore the Block and new pistons. -bring the pistons and con rods to same weight and balance the con rods Now my questions for you: I would like to rev the engine quite a bit, if possible 7k. Power output maybe 100-110HP. Do I have to use ARP bolts on head, mains and con rod? Do I have to balance the crankshaft with the fly wheel and then with the con rods and pistons (not with exactly them, but with their weight. I hope, you know what I mean ) Do I have to get HD bearings and a double thiming chain? Can I rev it up to 7k with the standard valve train( cam, follower etc)? I'm not asking for high power output at 7k, but for the ability to get there =) I'm asking, because my budget is a little bit small (I study and work only in the holidays...), but I want to do it properly. Thanks!
  12. Hi, I know that I won't have the Power of a BDA or a Zetec or even a blown Kent 1700, but I like this rusty old unreliable Engine with the Power Output of a wending machine. An old wending machine... The v4 has the gearbox mounting of the v6, so I have to use a v6 gearbox and afaik the cardan shaft of the Escort mk2 1600 automatic. Are my informations right? Mafijoosi93
  13. Hi, I've been thinking about fitting an V4 engine in my Escort. I dislike OHC and a V4 has a really nice sound. Are there any problems with fitting it to the original 4-speed gearbox, that comes with the 1300 Kent? Are there problems with the engine mounts? I could weld and I've got an Friend, who has got his own workshop Would a longer differential would be useful, because the Kent is a rev-engine and the V4 is a torque-engine? I've got an 3.89. Greets mafijoosi93
  14. Hi, thank you! Yeah, the Escort is in good shape, only the leaf springs, the rear axle and the connection between the fenders and the engine compartment are rusty. The rubber bearings of the stabilizers and wishbones are old and must be replaced. I have got the standard springs and shock absorbers. Are poly urethane bearings good for this setup or unnecessary? I dont want to knock down the chassis... greets!
  15. Hi, I hope, someone can read the headline. It's the swabian dialect from the Black Forrest in southern Germany. I live near the city Altensteig and I'm 19 years old. I have graduatet this summer and I will begin studying engeneering in April. Some years ago I bought an old Yamaha DT 50 M and rebuild it. Next step was an Audi 80 B3 (build in 1990), then an BMW E30, which i sold some time ago. In August I met a man at the gas station, when he had to refuel his Chevy Chevelle. I spoke to him, because I'm a fan of muscle cars. He said, that he had some cars to sell. The one i intended to buy (an Audi 80 B2, build in 1980) was unfortunately in a poor condition and I wanted to leave, but then I saw in the corner a green car under a blanket and asked the owner about it. It was a green 1975 Ford Escort MK2 1300GL fordor with manual transmission in a surprisingly mint condition. I was allowed to do a test drive. Since then I knew, I HAD to buy it! In the middle of September I got the keys for 1500 bucks and started with my oldtimer career =) Nearly everyone of my family and friends loved this car, even my brother, who isn't a fan of old cars. In this winter I want to replace some parts of it and derust others, like the rear axle and the front wings. I bought a Weber carbuetor from the 1300 Sport and RS alloy wheels in 6x13. Unfortuately they are from the Fiesta and have the wrong offset... Here are some photos of the car: I hope you like the car and have some further informations for me. mafijoosi93
