  1. I have one in Crawley, it has a (loud) whine but selects cleanly so would be good for a rebuild. I swapped it for a rebuilt one in my cortina last year and it's sat in my garage, I'd be open to offers. Any use to you?
  2. Thanks for the replies, and thanks for the offer Katana, unfortunately although camberley is a little too far at the moment as the car is basically undrivable. I have a couple of decent local independents who I would be happy to chuck a few beer tokens at to build the pipes so I'll give that a go when I have the parts. I may finally then have a cortina that stops as well as it goes!
  3. First off, apologies if I should have posted this up in the Cortina section, but I figured it's not particularly specific and it may get a few more views here. My Cortina's master cylinder had finally given up the ghost. I have noticed a deterioration in my brakes' performance over the last couple of days and on inspection I've noticed that there is fluid seeping from the join between the servo/master cylinder. It did this around march this year so I had the master rebuilt with new seals etc. however this happening again would suggest it had past its best. The problem is, there are very few off the shelf replacements for the mk 3, the best compromise seems to be a land rover item but that has UNF outlets rather then M10. I have ordered one in, and it comes with unions but I'll need new pipes made up. I have also ordered a Hel brake line kit to fit at the same time. Now, I think the best option would be to get new copper pipes made with the metric fittings at the calliper ends and the UNF fittings for the master cylinder. Would this be something a decent local indie garage would be willing to do or is it easy/cheap enough to do myself, bearing in mind that I have no tools for bending/flaring pipes or pipe cutters as it's not something I have ever needed to do? I know there's a few Crawley folk here so any suggestions would be appreciated. My last question is is the servo likely to be OK or will it need a service? The car is my daily but I'm sure I could source another mk 3 servo to get refreshed to minimise time off the road. Cheers in advance!
  4. Sounds worth a punt. PM me your payment details and a price and we can go from there. Thanks, kev
  5. Sounds good, is it the mountney classic or 'm' range?
  6. Not me I'm afraid, I've only been here for 18 months and on my first OSF. I have a mk3 'tine as my daily, it's mostly red but has a wing and sills in primer. Pretty distinctive I guess.
  7. The steering wheel on my GXL has lost it's cover, the skinny Bakelite isn't the most pleasant thing to hold on to so I'm looking for a replacement. I'd prefer something oldskool like classic mountney or springalex style or even a riveted wood wheel. Thanks in advance
  8. Pound hill, just off balcombe road.
  9. Literally round the corner from me, I might have to pop along in the cortina
  10. Hi all, I've been lurking for a while but thought it was time to make my presence known! I'm kev, from Crawley and I drive a mk3 'Tina. It's a '72 2000 GXL in red, primer and rust. It's my first oldskool ford and the ca I have wanted since I was a kid. My love for the mk3 started with my grandad's yellow '74 2000 XL auto that he got in '76 then promptly garaged in '79 when he got a company car. That was always going to be mine, and was in great shape although a non runner when he got the scrappy to take it away in the early 2000s. To say I was annoyed was an understatement. Still I finally got mine.
