  1. Hi Popeye, thank you for your response and sorry for the delay, That one is a bit too narrow, I'm looking to replace the Koln axle I have with the stronger Cortina Atlas version. Please don't think I'm teaching anyone how to suck eggs but the following info might help someone oneday: The Capri 2.8 LSD atlas it is 56 ½ inches wide across wheel mounting face of half shafts (52“ across the tubes) 2 ¼” axle sticking out each side. The half shafts are 16 spline and about 1” diameter. The Cortina Atlas is non LSD but the 2.8 capri LSD fits. The Cortina atlas is XX ..... .......58 ½”?? across the wheel mounting face and is YY” 54”?? across the tubes. Normally they had a ratio of 4.11 By comparison the Cortina Koln axle is 53 ½ inches wide across tubes plus an extra 2 ¾ inch each side from tube to wheel mounting face giving a total of 59 inches across wheel faces. The half shafts are 22 spline and about 3/4” diameter. I also come across the following which is useful if you need to know! A 50" english axle is only used, sorry was only used in mk1 capri, casings are usefull if your re-tubing them, and the diffs, but the shafts are useless, too short for a 52 english, too long for an escort axle. front loading english axles. 48.1/2"=escort mk1/2 49"=cortina mk2 only""" But the shafts can still be used in the escort axles, there 5mm longer thats all 50"=capri mk1 52=capri mk2 only, hens teeth, and sell them to the national lads, they will pay a premium for this stuff. rear loading axles, klone and atlas. 48.5=klone axle, 8"back plate, dont get confused and think these are baby atlas's, there not, there a cut down tina mk3/4/5 axle. 52" wide, 8" back plate=tina mk3/4/5. 52" wide atlas axle, 9" backplate. Some mk 3/4/5 cortinas did have a 9" backplate, in estates, 2.3 V6 engined and the last mk5 crusader, just have the pigs ears on top, thats the only differance. forget anything shaft wise from an axle less than 48.5 long, just use the diffs abd flog the casings to one of the many car builders, 15 is the right price. Cheers
  2. Hi all Title says it all really! I have internals but would be happy to take a complete axle, don't need any breaks - have discs. Many thanks for your help and fingers crossed! (This is my first post - so all excited..) Would love a high ratio CWP to go with it.... Regards Ben Not sure if supposed to leave phone number but hear goes.. 0796 702 6744
