  1. They're all decent ideas, I was just wondering whether there's anything to look out for. A high revving pinto sounds fun though, I'll probably go down that route for now (up until I find a reasonably priced 351C). I'm trying to keep all of the capri upgrades/modifications period and Ford specific, so I'm turning a blind eye to engines like the S54 and LS1.
  2. My 1.6 pinto is going to need a complete rebuild, so I got looking into the big American engines. Has anybody ever managed to stuff in a 351 Cleveland with a T5 box? I know it'd be ridiculous (& expensive), but I'm curious.
  3. Cheers for the replies. I was initially just going to drag it up onto the trailer but the ground is really uneven, I doubt the car dragging it up would get any traction (plus there's a chance of the axle flying off/car tearing in two haha). I've managed to find some cheap 4 spokes so I'll chuck those on this weekend and do my best to free up the brakes - I'm not too optimistic about that though, the handbrake is seized... off... somehow
  4. Hi, My Capri has been stored in a 'garage' (a shed with big doors) for the past 22 years. Sections of the floor have rotted away, and the tyres are flat (the wheels are also rotten). How do I get the thing out and onto a trailer? The floor isn't even so I can't put it on dollies, and the brakes are siezed. I'm worried about dragging it out incase the car tears into two pieces! Any ideas? Does anybody have any wheels lying around that I could use/buy for cheap? (remove the brakes and roll it out on the wheels)
  5. I'm after a MK1 tailgate as mine is pretty rotten along one end. I'd rather replace it than repair it... if the price is right!
  6. Hi all! This seemed like the best place for me to be as I'm sure I'll have lots and lots of questions to ask! I recently inherited a Capri 1600L (I think), first registered in 1973. It's been stored in a wooden garage for the past 22 years and although it's completely untouched, needs lots of work. The body & interior is in surprisingly good condition, but the wheels have fallen victim to really bad surface rust, as has anywhere else with exposed steel (engine bay, engine, underbody etc), I'm hoping that this rust doesn't go to deep and can be removed with a bit of wire wool & elbow grease. The plan is to strip the car down, remove as much rust as possible and weld in new steel plates if necessary, then get it powdercoated and repair/replace parts when I'm re-assembling it. Is this a good plan of action? Also - does anybody know where I could find a decent-sized lockup with electricity within 15 miles of Wigan? I currently have one for my 1978 Honda CB400, but the lack of power is a real drag. It's too small for me to work on the Capri in too. A 20ft x 10ft space (at least) would be ideal.
