Hi guys thanks for the input. He is unable to open either the drivers or passenger door but can open the boot so is accessing this way. I'm pretty sure what the problem is now. I found some info on an auto locksmiths website describing how if the key becomes worn it lets you lock the door but wont allow it to unlock. Take a look at the details here about worn ford car keys http://carkeypeople.co.uk/car-makes/ford-car-keys-replacement/ I spoke to these guys earlier and this is a common Ford key problem that they can easily resolve. Got them coming round on saturday to cut a new key, will let you know how it goes.

Hi all, my father in-law is having problems with his Ford Escort door lock. He can lock the door ok but when he puts the key in the door lock to open, it will not turn. Is is currently entering the car through the boot, lol. Any ideas on what the problem could be? I have offered to take a look at the wknd but have no idea what could be wrong. Thanks in advance for an pointers
