ive had all the same problems with the clowns at dvla..i got a letter from ford who confirmed my build date and is tax exempt and still they are messing me around. whats thebest option for me now?

Hi, I wonder if anyone could help me, I have a MK1 escort, manufactured in Dec 1973, registered Feb 1974. As the manufacture date in Dec 1973 it is tax exempt, however I am having problems getting it registered with the DVLA. I completed the correct form and sent it off and had a letter back from them saying it was not exempt, so after a lengthy call they advised me to get proof from Ford, which I did, sent this off and have had another letter back saying this is not adequate proof as it needs to be from the manufacture!!?? or a trusted owners club! Does anyone know who these owners clubs are as I cannot find out, Thank you for any help.
