  1. Hey everyone, I had some time this afternoon to start looking, planning and removing panels from my little MK2 Escort. One thing I did notice was the interior carpet was horrible, torn and just plain disgusting in certain places, so it will have to be removed. My limited research showed that in South Africa it will be a specialized service to replace the carpet as I could not find kits for the car locally. Importing is an option but postage is almost the same amount as the actual kit and with our exchange rate that will be VERY expensive. So I need some advice/ suggestions from you on alternatives or other options. Keep in mind I would like to keep it from looking to much like a track car and be able to use it comfortably on the street.
  2. First would be to get the front bumpers back on. Also the 17" wheels imo does not fit so going to 15". Maybe some 15"s that resemble some classic rally style wheels. Also would like to replace the current instrument panel with a Ghia or Sport version so I can get the tacho functionality especially with the SR20DET fitted. The headlights are also from a small Nissan pickup so those will have to be changed as well. I'll post some more pictures soon.
  3. Sorry Escort
  4. Hi Everyone! I'm from South Africa and have been a petrol head for a very long time. My car history in a nutshell: My first car was a Ford Laser 1600i sport, followed by a Nissan Sentra 200GSI. When the Sentra got stolen I was fortunate enough to get hold of an S13 180SX. After that I got married and replaced the S13 with a 9N Polo (bad decision). Couple years later I came across a Bug Eye WRX which the Polo had to go for. The WRX made me fall in love with turbos all over again. I had to sell the WRX unfortunately due to storage space limitations but I made myself a promise that I will someday again have a toy. Then....... I got my grubby little paws on a little gem of a MK2. There is definitely some work to be done on it to get it to what I want it to be but I do think its a very good start. Oh!!! And did I mention its been fitted with a SR20DET ?! Obviously trying to get it back to standard is not entirely the idea, but some things should remain stock..... Hopefully I will be able to bug you guys with questions and get some answers to aid me in getting my toy to where I want it to be. Cheers.
