Hi all, thanks for the warm welcome. Gonna have plenty of questions so sorry in advance for that. First jobs I think are going to be tackling the wiring and sorting the interior. (Front side lights come on with brakes, no heater box, stereo badly cut into dash) But I will start a proper build diary for that. Hopefully will get time in the winter to get it up to scratch, when I’m not fixing my Land Rover lol

Hi all, I’m Chris and recently became the proud owner of a 2 door mk1 Escort. Never actually planned on having one however a chance encounter at a local classic car auction saw me bid and win this particular example. Bit of a risk as there is no history with the car but as it was rust free I decided it was worth the risk. All I really know is that was imported from South Africa at the beginning of this year and the 2.0l Pinot engine was fitted around 5 years ago. I am hoping people on here might be able to give some advice about where to look to try and find more info on the car. Eg what the original engine was. Apart from the engine the car also benefits from disc brakes all round and what appears to be new shocks. Along with new track rod ends and freshly wax oiled, Plans are to use and enjoy it in the summer and tinker/upgrade it as I go along. The carb needs sorting to get it running right and as I have a lot to learn about carbs it’s been left with Mike Jennings who’s a bit of a carb whisperer around these parts for a few days to sort out. Will start a build diary of my progress and no doubt bore you all with loads of stupid questions about parts and what to do about this and that. But for now I’ll leave you with some pics.
