  1. Hey all. Just a lil something-something for ya... checked out a roadhouse for future club events on Saturday. Some pics I took (please excuse my excellent MSpaint skills used): Had a little moment and decided to play round with the club logo!! The cars are FLTR: - 1300 Panelvan (standard), - RS2000 with Pinto & sidies, - Mk1 1300turbo - V6 Capri 3000L GT (twin 38 webers, flowed heads, cam), and - Mk2 1600turbo Sport. Oh, and the only descent shot I got form the seperte cars: Then we headed out for some fun at a secluded industrial area: Mk1: RS2000: V6 Capri: That is all Be sure to visit us from time2time @ www.fordownerssa.co.za/escortownersforum
  2. I never noticed that!?!? Maybe that is how they came from the factory.... or something.... must be that most of them came out like that originally.... don't actaully know why.... Oh, those are there to secure the bumpers to the car so that nobody can steal them.... Joburg is the crime capital of the world you know!! LOL !! No, I am just pulling your chain!! They are the bonnet pins, to keep it closed. They are attached to small cables so they don't go missing when the bonnet is open, and they are not in place.... how weard is it that they hang on precicely the same place on each bumper!! Oh, and it is actually a navy blue... don't know why it looks purple?!?!
  3. Jip, it is sitting @ quite and angle hey!!!
  4. Yeh, weather went from misty, cloudy & rainy, to clowdy, to so friggin hot the Escorts decidd to hide in the shade!! OMG.... don't even get me started on that crap!! Short of it is that the show was held @ the Piston Ring Clubs grounds in Modderfontein, which is where they manufacture dynamite and other exciting stuff... Now, for the 2010 Soccer World Cup, they are building this rediculously expensive "Gautrain" thing right close by to this.... So they put up razor wire to prevent squatters from going in there and putting up shacks.... looks awefull, but serves the purpose !! I know buddy, everybody wants one!! Yes, the Capri is my dayly drive... Wouldn't trade it for anything!! I get 95Killerwats and 149Nm on the rears with it. That is about 131Bhp @ around 1753m (5751ft) above sea level (highveld)..... so, we are talking + - 158Bhp@ sea level!! Scared some Golf 5 Gti owners with it already!! I will have to find out about that Escort Perana for you... Aha.... here you go: "Escort Perana The first Escort Perana was based on the Mk1 Escort. It was powered by a 2 litre inline 4 (Pinto) engine." Will try to get a better angle picture for you....
  5. Thanks for the comments!! The club is really growing in strengths. At the last 2 shows it got the best represented club award!! Yeh, love the little Anglia. Still original, except for alternator conversion, and a s/steel zorst. It's a 1964 Anglia, the 997cc model, 3rd owner since new. There were a couple of Perana's at the meet. I didn't take pics, as they have been pic'ed 3 or 4 times before.... But that Escort looks extremely good hey?!?! Like I said, scarce as hen's teeth... only the 2nd one I ever saw in SA!!
  6. Hey guys, Thought I would give you'all something to drool over. The annual Johannesburg Cars in the Park was held on Sunday 21/10/2007. A good turnout of Old Skool Fords. Here are some pics: The chairman's RS2000: Cossie Mk1: Mk1 Escort Perana (Scarce as hen's teeth!!): Mk2 with a V6 (essex) : Pinto RS2000: Very neat RS2000's: Cortina (A bit ricy for my taste): Mk1 Cortina's: Escorts hiding from the SA sun: Car magazine had an exibition of all the cover cars over the years. Due to the owner of the 1200super pulling out at the last moment, they asked me to put my Anglia in their display: Sapphire Cosworth: 4x4 Sapphire Cosworth (Believed to be one of 4 in SA): Perana replicas: V6 Capri 3000GT: My Capri V6 3000GT : The rest of the OSF crowd: Feel free to visit us @ www.fordownerssa.co.za and click on the forum link.
  7. Thanks. Jeh, we are very lucky with our weather up here in Gauteng. Down at the South & North Coast the weather is not that good. That is where the cars tend to rust most... similar to you guys, but maybe not as bad. Busy with an engine rebuild on the Capri at the moment. My valve seat dropped out and proceeded to mess up my piston a bit. So 6 new one going in, a better cam ('79 cam), alloy timing gear for the cam, Bosch dizzy, and a couple of other bitz and bobz.... will post pics of the most intersting parts.
  8. Hi Peranapete, Well, sad to see another Perana leaving the country , but in the same breath it is very good to know that it has found a very caring and loving home!! Those are becomming very scarce now as you are lucky if you can find one for sale!! If I may ask, how much did you pay for the car in SA Rand? Also, what is the number on the Basil Green Plate. The reason I am asking is that there is all sorts of roumers and stuff about the number of Perana's manufactured by Basil, and I was wondering if it might shed some light on it. Maybe you could e-mail me a pic of the plate if you have one handy? Also, check out www.capri-perana.co.za. It is a local website that has a lot of valuable info. Stunning Car ... You should take good care of her!!
  9. They are full chrome. Originally they were chromed with the centre being black. But I think it looks much better in full chrome. I honestly do not know what to do.... maybe, if I can get a nice set of minilights... I would just replace, but those are as scarce as hens teath here... so we will have to wait and see...
  10. Thanks guys... Jip, those rims are the Rostyle rims that was widened to almost 7J (had them measured when I put on the new rubber). They need to be re-chromed as they are a bit rusted, peeling and generally looking bad (you just can't tell from the pics)... It just costs a hell of a lot to re-chrome it, cos it needs to be split, chromed and then put together again. Might consider just getting a nice set of minilite rims....
  11. OK, so we attended the Piston Ring Motor Club Show yesterday and I saw 6 Capri's, of witch 2 were Perana's... Here is pic's of a Perana: The Engine: Double anti-roll bars: Only got a pic of the other Perana's engine, as he left before I could get more: Also, there was a very nice RS2000 Cosworth: Check the brakes on this thing: And my car:
  12. Thanks. Yip, the Anglia is still 100% standard!!! It is due for an upgrade in the Carb devision as the current one is fooked, and no service kits available. Got a single choke 32ICH, just need to get it done now!!
  13. The website kept on giving me errors and stuff, so I had like a kazillion double posts .... Fixed it up again..... Anyhow, now you know where to find the updates!!
  14. OK, so seeing that my post is nowhere to be found ... here is a link to my personal album on this site: http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/album_personal.php?user_id=3018&sid=1a585e6ba1a6b202296ff19e1e36bcea
  15. Ghees, you guys are lucky... In good old SA, we are not allowed to import ANY vehicles... apparently it isn't a problem up there... All the old Jap cars seem to get dumped there. If you can sort out all the import stuff on your side, I will try source you a nice Perana... even try organise the shipping.... for a small commission off course I know I have there is some guy that imported a genuine Perana to Europe somewhere.... just cant seem to find the link now.... Found it... http://www.capriv8.de/joe-engl.html I take it you are referring to the cortina's, cos we has Sierra XR6's after the Cortina's were discontinued.... SO, I pulled out of the junkmail newspaper for you: "CORTINA XR6 3.0: 1981. Cream. Mags. Good running cond. R.16000 onco" - that's about £1,100.....Although I must warn you... these cars are normally not in a great condition... No, unfortunately not.... will have a look around though!!
  16. All I need now is to get it set up... will post a dyno sheet as soon as it is done! Thanks Hmmm.... yes, the Perana.... what a shweet ride that is!! They go for around R50,000 or £3,500 ... that is if you can get one. They are becomming very hard to find these days... come to think of it... I haven't seen one advertised for ages!!!
  17. OK, so it has been a while since I promised you an update. The car isn't set up 100% yet, as we went away on holiday and all my available funds went into that. I will try and get it done this month so that I know what kind of power we are talking about. As promised, here's the pics of the engine: Any thoughts?
  18. Thanks all. A little update: I blew a head gasket a while ago and, while I had to open the motor up, added a upgrade or 2. I got me a set of gasflowed heads and an intake manifold that has 2 x 38DGas Weber carbs. Should be getting the car back this week. I will post the dyno results. The wheels are the original Rosstyle (not sure about the spelling though ), but they were widened a bit. It has 205/60/13 tyres on.
  19. OK, so here are the pics of my cars: 1972 Capri MK1 (pre-facelift) 3.0L GT Front: Back: Engine: Interior: As you can see, there is a lot of work waiting, but at least the body is still is a good condition with minimal rust. The engine bay has the most work and needs some tlc. The interior is ok, but has a couple of rips in the seats. The Anglia 105E (997cc): Front: Side: This car is still 100% standard and appart from a couple of scratches and dings on the body, it is in very good condition. She always starts with the first attempt!! This is probably the most reliable car that I have owned.
