Thanks for letting me join.
I have recently acquired a 1984/5 Granada Ghia X 2.8 Estate after having many Fords in my youth and can safely put hand on heart and state that during my working years had every Mark of Cortina's from Mk 1 to Mk 4/5, mostly estates. and most Zephyrs. (many, many years ago!)
My latest is a very well looked after MK2 facelift and has not disappointed apart from finding spare parts -"never heard that one before on Fords!"
Two things are on the "must do" list are Air-conditioning and carburettor.
Regarding the AC; It was mentioned at a recent Granada Guild rally that there is someone rebuilding the compressor/pump to accept the modern refrigerant's, but my memory failed me - can anyone help there? I have had it working four times, each failure has been seized, leaking or troublesome pumps, everything else works fine. I have now run out of replacement pumps and can't find any more. For info, each time the regass was with R134a The first attempt lasted nearly eighteen months continuous use, the following efforts between 16 weeks and and a few days.
As for the carb ... just looking to service repair or replace the existing Pierburg Neuss - Pierburg 38 EEIT. It has the habit of losing a setting/mixture or idle speed, sometimes both. I confess I have not touched it yet so before I do I want to have the gaskets at hand or a replacement.
Thank you for reading this, oh! and just one thing more; Radiator will need replace some time soon!
