  1. Brilliant, thanks for your help Miniliteman. I'm wondering if I can free up the the two seized valves without taking the head off. The fuel had water in it which had caused the carburettor to completely clog up. The seized valves are 2 and 3 which are side by side inlets. I'm assuming water has ended up around the valve seats before the boat was laid up for the winter and corrosion has caused them to seize. I doubt the valve stems are seized. I could take the inlet manifold off and squirt something around the valves. Can I gently tap the valves at the top of the stem? Any thoughts would be appreciated
  2. Thanks guys, that is really helpful. Does anyone know what the tappet clearances are? Lots of conflicting info on line. Thanks again.
  3. Hi Guys, hope you don't mind having a non Ford owner in the club? I my defence, in my youth I owned several Fords which are now classics. I do have a couple of non Ford classics and I am keen on all classics, I do all sorts of bodywork, mechanical and simple electrical work on my own vehicles. I live in south Manchester and am on various forums and would like to get my hands on a Mk 1 Escort for restoration.
