85mm pistons gives 1760cc. I'm running with Accralites now as I detonated a piston during a test day 7 years ago. There are plenty of people that don't recommend such large overbore but as it was done back in the early 80's, I guess the block is OK with it. It will rev to 6,500 but 6,200 is more than enough as the power is dropping over that.

Hi All. I'm going to come clean and say that my primary interest is in the 711M Crossflow engine and how to get the best from it. So apologies, as I don't actually own a complete Old Skool Ford car - just the engine & gearbox. I believe the engine was originally from an Escort Mk1 Mexico which was rallied back in the 70's before being transplanted into my car. The spec is : 1760 cc, A2 cam, twin 40's with a 2000e semi close g/box. Nothing special really but it is a lovely, lovely engine which I use for both road and competitive hillclimb events, often competing against Mk1 & 2 Escorts. A beautiful Mk1 Twincam won last weekend at Loton Park - fantastic car. I read most of the Crossflow related posts in the 'engine room' forum, so thx to all the contributors there. Moto
