  1. After 16 years of ownership the time has has come to sell my Capri. The price is £20,995 It was recently in featured in Classic Ford Magazine (5 page article August 2022) and also in their calendar for October this year. I also have been asked by the editor of the magazine to attend the Classic Ford show on May 14th this year and the car be displayed on the Top 50 stand. This will be my last event and I will invite viewings on this day. Two previous owners. Tax and mot exempt. But it will come with a new MOT certificate for your peace of mind. It is a genuine 1975 JPS model with the log book correctly stating GTS and the chassis tag on the slam panel carrying the JPS acronym. When I purchased the car back in 2007 I was struck by its originality and near perfect interior. However it required mechanical restoration having been stored for 19 years prior. The car was originally a 2.0 litre ohc model which during my restoration I converted in every detail to 3.0 V6 specifications. So tachometer changed to the V6 one, engine bay strut tops and triangles fitted, inner wing strut mount braces welded in and obviously the extra brackets for the twin exhaust. Also the VIN tag has been remade to show it has a 3.0 engine and obviously the DVLA are aware too. I still have the original VIN tag too. Mechanically it has had a nut and bolt restoration with almost every part having been removed and cleaned or if necessary replaced. The bodywork was fundamentally solid but it did require new rear arches and lower rear corners. It also had the wings removed as one of them was dented. Atleast this gave the opportunity to clean up the inner wings and fit the reinforcements. The cills and chassis rails are all original and are now waxoyled too. While the company I entrusted the bodywork to did a good job on the welding and ensuring correct fits they didn't put enough effort into the paint prep in my opinion. There is no rust on the car but the paint work is the one thing that lets the car down. It has a slight orange peel effect in places and is a little dry looking in some of the shuts. It drives and runs beautifully but having manual steering and uprated suspension means it is slightly harder ride than standard but for me a more rewarding one. The Slick 50 treated Essex V6 engine has a dyno sheet showing 190 bhp. Fitted with a holley carburettor a Kent fast road cam, powermax high compression pistons. Big valve head, Steel timing gear, Lightened and balanced bottom end and flywheel to which a Cosworth clutch plate is attached. It has 4 speed type 5 gear box with up rated bronze gear stick bush. Lumenition electronic ignition replaces the need points in the distributor. It has a discreetly located Omex rev limiter to protect the engine and an optional launch control rev limit button. The viscous fan has been removed along with the belt pulley and replaced with a thermostatically controlled electric fan from a Ford rs turbo. This is hidden from view between the radiator and grill. To further neaten up the engine bay the battery has been relocated to the boot, and resides in a purpose built fibreglass box. A boot carpet has been cut to accommodate this but I still have the original boot carpet too. I used the car on the odd occasion for drag racing RWYB events so some of my modifications bore this in mind. It has nitrous oxide plumbed in with the solenoids mounted on the strut brace. The nitrous jets supply an extra 30 bhp or 50 bhp depending which set you choose. I only ever used to 30 shot. The car is pretty quick and completes a 1/4 mile in 14.3 seconds at around 100mph. It has a limited slip differential and 2.8i rear brakes. Decambered single leaf rear springs. Spax adjustable rear dampers. Polybushed through out. Braided brake hoses. Gaz adjustable platform front struts With 225lb coils. Adjustable Track control arms Spherical bearing adjustable top mounts. Adjustable castor 28mm anti roll bar. Vented, grooved and cross drilled discs. Fibreglass wrapped large bore manifolds connected to a twin stainless steel 2" exhaust system. manual steering rack Mechanically the only negative point is that the second gear synchro mesh is worn. This is only apparent when you shift down into second gear at high rpm, in so much as it will sometimes pop out of gear unless you keep your hand on the gear stick. This hasn't been enough of an issue this issue to make me want to remove the gearbox and fit a replacement ring. It is a cheap part but requires a gearbox strip down to replace it. the drivers seat is currently removed from the car for safe keeping as I prefer to use a bucket seat and also to save wear on the original seat. If you are genuinely interested in buying my car please message me.
  2. Looks amazing! Love the orange cadiz fabric seats! Look like new.
  3. That one was a few years back actually, been a while since I visited them. The others were last week.
  4. Collection from Chelmsford, bracket only, no bolts. £5
  5. Cheers, got the stuff from Real Steel today.
  6. Just thought I would check on here before trying to find somewhere that does Holley spares. Need a valve and float for the vacuum secondaries, or ideally a rebuild kit. Cheers
  7. Okay mate thanks, will let you know if it does.
  8. Forgot to say that I am based in chelmsford Essex.
  9. Available from Burtons at about £80 each ( check out their website for full spec. I have a pair of these for sale in excellent condition still with the box they came in. Model no. GAI 4103. They have done less then 500 miles in my JPS but I have now swapped struts so are no longer needed. I also have the top adjusting nut for easy adjustment. Fitment as follows: Gaz top adjustable damper insert (F) Escort Mk1 RS2000/Mexico 74-75, Escort Mk2 RS2000/Mexico & Capri Mk2/Mk3 (excluding 2.8 Bilsteins) £100 plus postage. Cheers Danny
  10. I haven't had the Capri on the road for about 18 months but that is set to change. I am having the front struts shortened by Gaz so I have got some suspension travel then it is ready for the MOT. I will get the nitrous bottle refilled too. I found even with the 30 hp jets it knocked a full second off the 1/4 mile times at the pod (15.3 down to 14.3), so I am looking forward to trying the 55 hp ones that are now in place. At North Weald I am yet to beat 15.0 as the grip isn't as good off the line as at the pod. I could do with a replacement gearbox too if anyone has one kicking about, it is the type 5 4 speed. It works fine but can jump out of 2nd gear on over run at high rpm.
  11. Slotmags would work, but there is a Modena Green RS3100 about with Gold revolutions and that looks pukka. Mind you I am biased to gold revos.
  12. lovely car you have there mate! Either to keep it as it is and enjoy or as base for a few subtle period mods
