  1. I'm getting on ok with the mex, I took it off the road when I first bought it to make sure that there were no holes underneath and to put some decent protection in place so that its not rotten within a year (happened to me a few years back with a series 1 RSt), but now its off the road the list of parts that I want to change before I drive it keeps growing
  2. I like taking the cars out for a blast on those freezing cold but sunny days Having said that I haven't driven my mk1 since the day I bought it, its been on axle stands in the garage Should be ready before the end of winter and I shal be using it plenty
  3. They've made a top quality job of your wheels vista, that might be an option for me but I'm possibly going to go down the 7 x 13 route as I have to get 4 new tyres anyway
  4. The mex is coming along nicely, i've finished the repair of the inner wing, thats looking good. Had to take the carbs with the inlet manifold off as coolant was leaking out between the head and manifold, thats all in hand. Along with a new ashley exhaust as the old one had a hole every 5 inches! Also waiting on a set of black samco's as the originals all felt a bit past it. The car is currently in my garge, up on axle stands waiting for me to give the underside a thorough clean! And i'm also debating whether to get a new set of alloys as i'm not too keen on the orange 4 spokes So i've got plenty to be getting on with, but hopefully it'll be back on the roads shortly after christmas Cant wait[/img]
  5. Why does there seem to be such a difference in price between the mk1 mexico and rs2000? I see the rs2000's go for around twice the price of an similar condition mex after all the have the same shell and the engines can be swapped easily enough, just thought I'd ask!
  6. there's a company on the internet called paints4u where i got some sebring red in a spray can and it was a top match. The website lets you search for ford colours in any given year and it gives you the codes as well: http://www.paints4u.com/AutoColours.aspx?ProductID=5264
  7. Yeah thats why I'm after a decent buying guide! What do you reckon is the going rate for a nice one with MOT?
  8. HI, can anybody help me with a link to a buying guide for a mk1 escort mexico, any help greatly appreciated
  9. I should be able to make it, may be working away. Hopefully i'll have a car by then, if not I could bring the sierra
  10. I hate having to make decisions like this, wanted an old skool escort for years and years and now i have the opportunity a spanner gets thrown right in there! Thanks for the comments though chaps, one way or another i'll get one soon!!!
  11. its an old skool ford, an RS. So if I bought it then the person buying it from me in a few years time will probably be in the same mixed state of mind as me
  12. I've just had a car hpi checked that i was considering buying and its come back as a total loss back in the mid 80's. Its a 30 year old car and is obviously in good nick now but its put me off slightly Basically i would've bought it had it come back straight, would it bother anyone else?
  13. I have to say that the beige rs2k in july's CF mag is stunning and I have massive admiration for the guy's skill to get it like that! However I'd love to own it and take it for a blast around some country lanes and get it nice and dirty
