  1. Evening all, been having issues with fuel pump on my 1300 Ghia, so I swapped it with a new one. Old one came off with one gasket and no spacer, the new one came with 2 gaskets. As there was only one gasket on when I took it off, I only put one back on but now it’s leaking oil. does anyone know what the setup should be, should I get a spacer with the gaskets either side, or do I just double up on gaskets? as always many thanks if you can help. 👍
  2. Evening everyone, can anyone recommend an MOT garage. It’s that time again 🤢 but have moved areas since the last one so my usual is potentially too far away. Based in Woking/West Byfleet area. Thanks in advance.
  3. Hi everyone Can anyone recommend a paint shop in the south London area, my paint has cracked (again) and it's on wedding duty in March. Obviously I know 'reasonable' rates are hard to call on a respray but if anyone has had excellent results and the place was Oldskoolford friendly, it's a good place to start looking. Many thanks
  4. I thought they were, but only place I could find on the 'bay and they seemed a bit pricey for what they are. Cheers for the link, they're loads cheaper.
  5. Looking for a flasher unit for 1.3 mk2 escort ghia. It's the three pin variety, not sure if the 4 pin one will fit. Anyone got one lying around? Cheers
  6. I'd be interested. Been thinking about it for a while.
  7. Thanks everyone.
  8. Evening all, Last August I got married and used my escort as the wedding car. I've owned it 10 years and my now wife has suffered the 'joy' of many a breakdown in it. There were some amazing photos of the day but thought I'd share my favourite. Ps: for the record, it was staged!
  9. As it says really. Does anyone know of/ can recommend one in south west london area? Cheers
  10. Evening all Looking for the back rest of a rear seat for a mk2 escort. It's the dark chocolate brown ghia interior, current one is ripped. Cheers Rich
  11. Morning all, Love the site as it is, one really geeky idea which might only amuse me, is a "guess the car from the part" bit, where you take a picture of the most obscure part of your car and see if anyone can guess the model!!! They don't win anything, just the assurance that they need to get out more. Other than that fairly feeble suggestion, the site is ace. cheers.
  12. Thanks guys, turns out it was bigger than a crack and couldn't drive it so got it done somewhere near work.
  13. Evening all Can anyone recommend a garage in the south London area. Need to get a weld done on the exhaust of my daily. Don't think it's a massive job as I only put it on 3 months ago, it seems to have cracked around a weld, rather than rotted. If anyone knows of a good one, I'd be grateful. Cheers
  14. No I haven't. Will have a look, cheers mate.
  15. Evening all Having a right nightmare with me escort. It's a 1300 and I recently fitted an electronic ignition, with a new coil. Anyway, had loads of starting issues and realised the coil was a ballast coil? So fitted a new old coil but kept the elec ignition in, now however when the battery is charged, everything connected up the starter motor 'clicks' and the battery is flattened instantly. This has happened twice now. I'm a bit useless at the electric side of things, only just worked out the ballast coil thing, and had a look at the wiring diagram in the manual, but it's starting to mess with my mind!!! Has anyone got any ideas what it could be, the starter motor doesn't spin, but I have dash lights up before I turn the key, then nothing. If anyone's got any ideas, would be very grateful. Cheers all
  16. a decent sealant for going around the float attachment where it screws into the petrol tank. The rubber ring that is on there isn't doing the job and everything else the petrol just softens. Thanks in advance Rich
  17. Afternoon all, quick question I hope someone will be able to assist with; put a new gearbox in my mk2 escort 6 months ago after the release bearing went. With the new gearbox on, with it in neutral and the pedals level, the bearing is still spinning. From underneath when i pull the release arm the release bearing comes free so do i just need to lengthen the clutch cable? There's no problem changing gears, all gears are fine and clutch isn't slipping etc. Any help would be much appreciated as always. cheers
  18. Need to move my escort from South London to the Midlands in the next week or so to do some (more!!) work on it. Can anyone recommend a transportation company, or has anyone used a good one. Having a bit of difficulty tracking one down. cheers in advance.

    Wheel bearing

Evening all. Been asked to change a wheel bearing for a mate on their Toyota yaris. Can't just tighten as the hub and bearing are sealed. Should be straight forward but there's an abs sensor on the back of the bit i gotta take out. Does anyone know if Disturbing this will affect braking, and do Toyota need to 'reprogramme' it or can just I just push it back on and all will be fine. Cheers in advance
  20. Evening all Just spent the summer rebuilding the engine on my mk2 escort. Taken ages as my dad's been helping but the engine hoist and garage are his and 150 miles away. Got it MOT'd drove it down last week, came off the motorway and couldn't get any gears. Think it's the thrust bearing as can get some gears but makes a slight squealing sound. Anyway, at the moment I'm not sure I can face redoing everything I've just done eg take the engine out again etc; and sort out the car to be trailored back up to my dad's garage. So I was wondering if it would be easier to get a garage to do it for me. As you can appreciate I feel a little uneasy about letting anyone else do the work as I've always done the work myself, so i was wondering if anyone who can recommend a friendly garage in london/ south east who could give me a quote to weigh up the possibilities. Cheers in advance
  21. mate, the excact same thing happened to me on my mk2 escort yesterday! Cable is fine, pedal is fine, just can't get any gears with the the engine running but you can when the the engine is off.
  22. gutted for you mate.
  23. After rebuilding the engine in the summer and sorting a few other odds and ends put the escort in for MOT today and it failed. Nothing too serious, broken front coil, and worn bushes on the rear anti roll bar. Bushes i can find but any ideas where I could get a spring from? I'm actually quite pissed off about the coil as I'm fairly certain the 14 speed bumps I've had to go over on the way to work everyday have contributed to this. Anyway if anyone know where i could pick up a coil for a mk2 escort I'd be very appreciative. Cheers all.
  24. Nice one, cheers chaps.
  25. If you can buy refurb kits for a mk2 escort steering rack, or does it make more sense just to put a whole new rack in? The irony being i've just had the engine out put it back in and then discovered this. Should have checked the rack while it was out. Typical. If anyone could shed any light on it be much appreciated. cheers all.
