  1. Yeah its a jekyl and hyde car, you can plod along with a smooth qiuet ride , or nail throttle and car becomes an animal, unless its wet when it tries to bury you in a lamp post.... sounds pretty quiet too, until you unleash it when its got a throaty roar.
  2. Yes it was on ebay its mine now, an awesome bit of kit.
  3. A few years ago probably 90-92 I was given free by a very old man, who had given up driving, his 1 owner car from new. It was a 68 MK2 Cortina 1300 deluxe in saluki Bronze, low mileage, essentially mint with an un sat in rear seat. The Old Guy gave it me, as he knew I liked old cars (MK2 Consuls) at time. Like a total young fool i just saw pound signs & used it for a bit then flogged it to a local unreputable car trader who fleeces people. He gave me £200 for it which I thought not bad for nothing. I heard a week later a teenage hoodlum bought it and stuffed it into a wall writing it off. Thats the biggest regret I have had, not keeping it stashed till present day. You live & learn....dont you.
  4. Typical, the winner didnt want the car, now its being cashed in for a ridiculous amount of cash. Some of us would give their left leg to have won it but couldnt afford it. it will end up with a money no object business person not a genuine cortina fan.
  5. Im a cop, Im not a twat...and I am an OSF nut. I would much prefer to drive a Mk111 tina GXL at work and i/v suspects in the lost property office. Your right there are some jobsworths cops but its the spotty burberry capped Corsa & saxo drivers that are more likely to be stopped. You know the ones with the neon kits underneath , smell of weed from the inside and a stereo and amp worth more than the car. The fact is gone are the days when you can trust paperwork held by drivers. A lot of cars are pool cars, uninsured...often death traps, which low life crims use to do petrol drive offs and ferry other peoples belongings about to sell for a quick score. Personally its these idiots I want off the road so we can keep the road safe for everyone and of course OSF,s. A mate of mine had his low mileage Mk2 escort written off by such a lowlife....................................enough said.
  6. I certainly will do, Thanks.
  7. Has anyone out there got an MK3 Tina GXL bits. I need the 4 headlights with bowls to suit twin headlight GXL grille. Also the GXL stainless wheelarch lips and side rub strips.Bits nned to upgrade Cortina L to GXL. I have the grille but need the headlights. Can you check your sheds and garages,
  8. Use my RS2000 mk1 Escort daily. Zetec power in a tin can so much fun, my journey to work not long enough at 1 mile.
  9. Many thanks for that, but funny drivers side ok.
  10. I dont think so, but will be checking that, spring appears located in strut ok.
  11. On my 73 Mk1 Escort RS replica, im experiencing a clonking on steering mainly reversing on lock. Ive jacked car up and noticed the nearside front strut top plate turns slightly against stopper on spring. Ive tried tightening top shocker mount to no avail. Its def the nearside thats doing it. Struts are 2.8 capri legs with lowered springs. Is that the issue ot could top n/s mount bearing be worn. It doesnt seem to float around when observed under bonnet, Any ideas before I take it apart. Top mounts are stock not roller bearing.
