the gear stick on the 1600 one is a nylon cup thing to hold it in and has two prong on the end of the gearstick in the box the 2000e one has a huge metal nut holding it in and a round ball on the end of the gear stick gear box side as far as i know i also think the gearstick comes out closer to the bell housing on the 2000e box

4 speed reverse is push gear lever down then towords pasenger seat then up hope that helps
