Tony Higgs with twin turbo big block. The new nitrous set up should be done by end of feb. It will still be my spider but with revo solenoids. And 2 bosch fuel injection pumps (044) should be good for an extra 1000 bhp on top
-
Close its in a Candy red Cortina Estate and the fastest we got last year with the old engine is 8.8 @ 154 mph
-
Yes were going for the latest in solinoid tec and digital programmer

Big Block Ford 572ci about 9.5ltr. I still have a big nitrous system to go on top of the 843bhp

We had a couple of problems on the Dyno nothing major but problems all the same. Its turned out that the new valve locks that I got aren't compatible for my heads. So we only mananged to do 3 pulls. these were all done on cheap petrol from Tesco to get a base. and at 25* timing. We achieved a best of 843 bhp @ 6600 RPM 729 lgtq @ 5800 RPM

Here goes. After our successful destruction of trans number 3 this year. I decided that a full on aftermarket one was need. After a few call, I was put into contact with Steve Kellet (thanks John Sleath) who had a JW all singing Box with the right bell housing for sale at the right price. While we we looking at the Box on the bench we decided to check the Diff. It looks like our prop problems at Easter had risen their ugly head again the crush washer in the diff had been squashed a little more than was needed allowing the Diff a chance to beat itself to death. As we didn't have to much to do and a long lay off I decided to do some upgrades to the nitrous as well. A trial fit of the gearbox proved that we needed a new flex plate. New Flex plate fitted, the converted needed machining down to give us enough clearance for the end float we needed. Gearbox fitted after about the 8th go(getting very bored of fitting gearboxes). I decided to go for a crack trigger, again it didn't fit so a good friend of mine took it to work and made it fit. Oh good all done with a couple of days to spare Run 1 We left the setting where they were a bit too much for the track on a very cold june day and the car drifted towards the wall a big lift to settle the car down and a 9.6 at 143mph. Run 2 The only change I made was to up the initial hit of the line from 20% to 25% and that gave us a 60ft of 1.54 and 1/4 mile time of 9.03 at 151. a new personal best but still not that illusive 8 Run 3 Again upped the launch to 30% of the line 60ft 1.46 and wait for it 8.9 at 153mph.We had done it at last and new bests on 60 ft, 1/8 mile, 1/8 mph, 1/4 mile, 1/4mph Eliminations We had Alex Mac, this is a man very good on the tree and he had run faster than us with an 8.7. So we went up a size on the nitrous jets. Back to 20% hit on the line. I was a little eager a left a nice big RED light, but I'd done it again we broke all our bests from the previous run ending with 8.88 and 154mph. Back in the pits we found a damaged plug upon further investigation we found a damaged piston. Back at home and the engine stripped our repair bill is not looking good. we need the block bored 10 thou,8 pistons, full bearing set, lifters, 2 valves, both heads welded, possible a cam. We found the damage to be a blocked fuel leg on the spider. Steps have been taken to make sure it doesn't happen again. All the pulsoids have been sent back to Trev for service and to make sure they are debre free before going back on. We are now relying on our brothers across the pond for the parts. fingers crossed we will be back out soon.

Thanks guys. What wall, I was desperatly trying to get an 8 before the passenger rides as I was restricted to 130mph by the track for insurance reasons and over cooked it a little. I'd love to have heard what the passengers were thinking watching me do that. The car produces a little over 800 bhp on the engine (Dyno'd) and we were trying to put another 500 down its neck. I'm glad you like the car I think it went down well in its new colour's as there was a constant stream of people in the gazebo but that might have been weather related

a very very good classic ford which saw the old bus get back to 9.2 seconds at 150 mph. On the Sunday I got a little greedy with the settings and lit the tyres. Then the car started started to go a little close to the wall I think another layer of paint would have done it. I'm not sure what was going through My passengers minds as they watched me "Set The Car Up". I was asked by Ian Marshall to make sure I didn't break 130mph as its a new ruling and part of there insurance. So first run with a passenger, We got Graham into the car. A good burnout and launch I think a new best 60ft of 1.54 just past half track I hit the brakes hard ending with 9.7 seconds @ 96 mph. Next up was Tom, who had won the Classic Ford quiz night. We went through what was going to happen and he watch the first passenger ride. As we went to go up for the run the skies opened. The meeting was called. We have agreed with Tom that we will onhour his ride and will contact him to arrange a date.

What’s going on? The camper started first time and drove faultlessly to its second favourite home the Shell garage down the road. I took the car out on Monday and almost got the wheels of the ground on one of the roads round my way, so it’s safe to say it hooks up. I've got my new nitrous bottle delivered today and finished loading the motor home ready for the weekend tonight I don't believe it. I finally have all my gears and in the right order. I just have to put the passenger seat in over the weekend and then give it a bloody good clean. Fingers crossed the heads will be back on, on the camper. I got the heads back for my motor home today. Valves all done, one is built up ready to go the other will be on Friday then they will be fitted back on over the weekend. Another day of progress ish. The gearbox is in full of oil, converter bolted up, starter in and working, but surprisingly my new prop bearings that I got even with taking the prop in don't fit. At last the box is back in and I now have clearance on the converter to flex plate..... The valves and seats in the motor home heads have been re-cut and I get them back tomorrow. Thanks Jim. I now have the classic ford tickets. Fingers crossed I don't break this one. I'd like to say a massive well done to Rusty Dan for sticking with it and finally have some luck with his scirocco. I drove on Wednesday and it goes really well and looks the mutts he should be very proud of it. Well done mate. Another night of progress. The heads are off the camper and show that the camper has been running very close to perfect. I'm hoping to have the exhaust manifolds and heads refaced early part of the week. I just have to get out the exhaust studs that had broken on the heads. While they are off we will service them. we no...w have the car turning over and sparking through the new crank trigger. I've also got the new diff back together and in. New rear springs are fitted and new servo as I borrowed the one on the car, Thanks Jason. At last we started to put something back on the car tonight. The new crank trigger is on and thank you to Andy of ADS precision engineering for going back to his factory to machine the flying trigger. All this is being done by my hard working crew as me being a numpty and helping a nurse at work broke a finger by dropping a "BOTTLE OF WATER" on it. It does weigh 25kilo's What a P**K. So thanks lads. While we’re doing the Transmission I decided to check the gears in the diff and found a damaged bearing which has led to the gears chewing themselves. So new gears have been ordered I've decided to change the gears from 3.5/1 to 3.25/1. This is the new gearbox spec Hi Ron, I have pulled the information on that transmission and the part number you have is a PG92351-V80, this transmission is our top-end full out pro-mod powerglide. What about a workshop tour there's loads of people/groups building cars. why not something along those lines.I know from talking to people at shows that they would like to see how and where these cars are being built. Plus it shows your average readers that there not all big buget high end cheque book cars. Some are but most are built at home or in barns between friends.

Firstly I'd like to welcome back to the team after a long stay of absence, Steve Kenny and his wife Emma also Jim. After a really good showing from the new set up at The Big Bang. I decided to turn up the Nitrous and play with a few settings. On a very tricky track we ran 9.7 seconds @ 151 mph off the trailer. But blew the tyres away so I turned down the nitrous on the Max Extreme,Softer launch and longer duration 9.5 @ 151. Run 3 no Nitrous off the line and 3 second build time. 9.2 @ 151 I did notice that I was almost on the limiter when I crossed the line. Sunday I decided to leave the delay off the line but bring the nitrous in faster. OOOPS as you can see from the pick was not what we wanted. I think that the damage was done at Easter. with the tyres breaking free I short shifted into second at the same time the nitrous kicked in. As they say the rest is history. but I had my best ever reaction 0.009. At the moment I'm looking at my options but I think that I'm looking at a bespoke Transmission such is the torque that were getting from the nitrous. If you look at the picks you can see the difference between mine and a good set................
