  1. The mention of super rods takes me back to watching a legend of the formula, Stu Donald, on his home track at scunthorpe:-
  2. Here's a few of mine from the late nineties, assortment of fords(sadly no pics of the Mk4 Escorts which met the demise at my hands) and french bilge suffered during this period... Austin Maxi 1500! Flying Capri! Peugeot 305 Estate Mark 3 Cortina BMW520 Volvo 240 Estate
  3. Think I've read somewhere this is happening on the 14th September but can't find the information again
  4. Its truly tragic and my condolences go out to his family. He was one of those drivers that never failed to entertain, believing that to find the limits you had exceed them just once - I recall his ASCAR outing, brushing the wall then climbing out and declaring he just had to, to find out what it was like! Colin McRae - RIP
  5. Despite it being the venue where I started racing(in an XR3 of all things) it would have to be the long defunct Scunthorpe track). Great location, dreadful track towards the end - Huge potholes on the exit to turn four! Favourite Track - Sheffield - Only raced there once(in a reliant!) rough pits but cool arena.
  6. Cool Ride - I'm with Mr Sam - Keep the stripes they're just pure 80's retro!
  7. I've always subscribed to the theory that with cars(and probably other things) if you like the look/style and you get a kick from it then its cool. If other people don't like it - UNLUCKY! As a rule I'm not a huge personal fan of the whole rattle can/rat look(matt blacks needs huge ponies to ram home the point - ala the cossie cortina) but on another day I might spot something and love it - If you think its cool then its cool, and when you don't change it. If it makes you smile then who cares, to hell with the rest of them!Enjoy your car, never forget ITS YOURS!
  8. Its all about exposing these youths to the scene(be it hot rods/osf/modified classic etc),poor misguided souls that they are. Whilst reading this thread there clearly is good support for OSF by a younger generation too many would rather not get their hands dirty with a car, that initially at least, will spending large amounts of time dumping fluids , snapping drive shafts or just not starting and thus more time under the bonnet than driving with their mates. Therefore they buy a mass market hatch complete with warranty and then proceed to glue plastic all over it before removing springs and resting it on the bumpstops! Not my scene but I will concede in some instances it can be well executed. Some of the comments also make me recall being mocked by youths in 1.0 litre Nova whilst out in my Volvo T5 daily, renowned grandad car of course. Never has taking several 1000miles out of my tyres in a few metres being more entertaining, and if a looked through the tyre smoke I'm sure I saw a few slack jaws!
  9. Hurrah! Job situation look set to be resolved, so more money to spend on the rusting hulks. Boo! just means I won't have any time to spend on the said rusting hulks. Glad to be on board with the OSF! Dave
  10. Good Day to all, Just a quick introduction, Dave from Scunthorpe here(the Iron Mighty tag was my team on the Plymouth Banjul Challenge 07!). I'm not quite new to the world of old skool fords, but with the impending arrival of a Mk2 Tina Wagon next week ripe for an engine transplant(which I have in mind and its one from the left field!) and the 1986 Mk2 Granny based hearse custom project thats also ongoing its time to get on board. So thats the introductions over with, pictures and projects will follow.Slowly, I've just lost my job this week but hopefully will get somethign sort soon, at least it means I can get the welding started! Regards, Dave
