The dealer is sitting on a Mk1 Escourt fitted with an XE (very nice but not my cup of tea), which he's had for some time now. You have I assume a very nice t34 Escort, which I'm sure the dealer feels he can move on a lot quicker than the Mk1, and he may be thinking that even with the current deal on the table, there is still a nice bit of margin in it if he sells your T34 for the right money. As per other comments on here you could build to your own spec for the same money. Dealers sell cars to make money and a living, so I doubt that even at a deal on 16K he is going to loose out. Can you not get in touch with the previous owner and have a chat. Find out why he sold it, and for how much........

Would it have been made for tax reasons. I ask as I know that Ferrari did the 308 in a 2ltr version for the home market to get round tax laws. Probaly a sleeved down 1100 block??

Yes mate. Try a propoer MIG setup with an Argon & CO2 mix and you will never go back..............

The problem with a gass-less MIG is the "gas" is produced by the action of melting the filler wire, and the flux coating on the wire being heated up and turning into a shielding gas. This is great in theory, and can be made to work in absolute controlled conditions i.e. inside and with no air movement, but in reality its a complete waste of time and leads to pigeon dropping welding..... Go for a good MIG welder with an Argon & CO2 mix like BOC's Argonshield light etc and you won't go far wrong. Cheers
