I spent over 2 hours with the guy and man he is passion with a big P and when you see the car in the raw, it is a work of art, just listen to that 4 pot screaming at 10,000 rpm on full noise. She is a beauty. And when these boys come to the UK with these gorgeous cars, come and talk to the guys come and see these cars race and I mean race, not show laps. These boys use them like they were built for. Race it or go Home.. I'm going too as it will be like a pilgrimage and has to be seen. Watch this space. I will keep you posted.

Today I had the chance to talk to this guy about his passion and his dream. The ex Hans Heyer GP5 Zakspeed Mk2 Escort that Gary discovered, unloved and abandoned in a shed in Manaysia. I have seen the restoration of this car back to what it used to be. I have heard the passion of the man and his friends who have brought this beautiful car back to life and just want to race it again. I have seen this car racing like it was always meant to be. The dream of this man is to bring not just this car but other cars like this, that used to race throughout UK and Europe during the 70's back to those famous tracks and race them there again. I want to be there when they do that as I remember this car racing in Germany in the 70's when I was based in Germany. Take a look on U Tube and look up this guy and this car. See the footage of it racing in the Scope Classic against the beautiful Cologne Capri of Roger Townsend. These cars are not show ponies they race seriously with very little asked for or given. The place is still shaking, we have had well ove 700 aftershocks since the big one. Some places have moved apart by up to 2km. There is a town south of Christchurch that was about 20km away, its now 22km away. They are remapping the whole area as some places have risen and some have sunk. There has been lots of land movement. my mates house has moved sideways by 500mm. 14 more quakes last night so not much sleep and its been like this every night since it started. Need some fun, may have to go for a big blast and get rid of the stress, scare myself sh%&less. Still motor racing season should start soon. Have just been told we have to move out of house as all sewage and drains stuffed. D

Feel like I've been in a War Zone as the aftershocks just keep coming. We have had over 400 aftershocks from 5.1 down. It's a bit scary during the night as we get very little sleep when your house and bed start shaking. Could do with a bloody good nights sleep. Many thanks for your thoughts Guys it is appreciated. I know that it's fallen off the world news but the battle still goes on out here. Keeping the villans out of the empty houses that can't be secured. Time to get the base ball bat out. !!! DaveB

Just to add a few pikkies of my street on the day of the quake. Car survived OK but house has a few more cracks in the wall. Lots of very new houses in the street will be bulldozer material as they have literally been torn in half. Luckily no-one killed. Bloody lucky it happened at 4.43am on a Saturday morning. It was a sad day when I heard that Kevin had passed away, I have travelled back to the UK on several occasions and called in to see Kevin at his old workshop, he always had time to stop and chat. he was a legend in his own lifetime and will not be forgotten. RIP Kevin we will not forget you. DaveB

Update on the above, apparently for the 'Skope Classic' at Ruapuna (Christchurch) in Feb 10, there will be laps of the track for all Anglia's attending - Obviously at Pace car Controlled Speed --- Shame and the Zakspeed Escort shown in my NZ Racing Images may be running.(Direct From Rumour Control)

22 Anglias made the run over 3 days. A great run on roads of all descriptions, even gravel. The one parked up the hill is mine. Got a bit exited Te Hee Hee When I work out how to add the photos i'll get some on the site, Any suggestions ? Cheers DaveBabs

Running a 1600 X/Flow overbored 60 thou. Toyota Celica 5 Speed box. Mk1 Cortina rear end, just had the diff rebuilt with some trick bits so it doesnt rev its guts out. Was running a 4.4, now running a 4.1. Front end is ALL Milton stuff all running on 15" Wolfrace. Needs a body makeover and new dash but all in good time. Not sure about engine, would like to go the 4AGZE route or even Zetec. The committee is still out on that one. Will throw some pikkies on the site soon. Cheers DaveBabs

Hi there been a Ford man all my life have run quite a few Mk1 Cortina's and Anglia's while in the UK. Left 15 years ago and sold all my toys. Managed to find a nice tidy 105E out here so doing some serious work on it at the mo. And if anyone out there is running an Anglia KMM893B or Mk 1 Cortina RKS168 will be good to hear from you, these were my baby's and were quick cars in their time. Will be good to hear from you guys.
